I had a very short stay at this Residence Inn. The location was convenient to UNF and the Town Center where I had meetings. I arrived at the property very late and received a great welcome from Brian at the front desk. The room was large and clean and well laid out and appointed. I had to leave very early the next day, so I pretty much just set the alarm and went to bed. Unfortunately that is when the drill team started practicing upstairs. I’m sure the people did not mean to stomp around, but the sound carried clearly. I highly recommend getting an upstairs room to avoid being the stompee vs. the stomper. I eventually got to sleep but drill team practice resumed around 4 a.m., 30 minutes before my alarm time. I just got up and started getting ready early. So, the location was great, the front desk was great, and the room was great. The soundproofing is just not good. Again, get a second floor room, and you should be fine.

We arrived after 7pm front area was locked and had to ring to get in (which is good for security purposes) once getting in room I was very pleased. The room was nice and clean and had a nice size bathroom with Whirlpool tub. The location was quiet and right off the interstate. We were a few miles away from several dining choices. This hotel was amazing and only a few things missing to rate it with the best. The Resturant was not open and there was no options for breakfast.I forgot to mention the room had a refrigerator and microwave with a Kureg . Very nice decor and would stay again if in the area. Family was very happy about the stay .

We stayed here for my family reunion. Antney was a breath of fresh air. When i got there i realized i had not completed my reservation for Friday, only Saturday. Antey can to my rescue. Not only did he find me a room that accommodated my needs, but he made sure my rate was corrected as well!!! Thank you Antney!! Because of you, I will be returning to the HGI Jax airport!

Our overall experience was good. Let me start with the positive. The hotel is close to several restaurants and attractions. The front desk staff were wonderful. All were friendly and helpful. Kirsten was extremely friendly, full of energy and helpful. When questioned about local beaches and attractions she gave several options. She recognized us when we returned. She asked questions about our day. It showed that she cared about her customers and community. She is an excellent ambassador for the Hyatt Brand. The room was large and clean. The beds were comfortable. There were two areas of concern. The shower gel bottle was empty. The first night of our stay, we informed the front desk staff. The front desk notified housekeeping of the need to refill the bottle. No one came to the room that night. We expected the shower gel to be refilled the next day. When housekeeping serviced the room, they did very little. The trash was not removed, towels not refreshed and the shower gel not refilled. Again we informed the front desk. Brittany apologized and gave us a plastic cup full of shower gel. She again submitted a request to have the shower gel filled. When housekeeping services the room on the second day, they did empty the trash and restocked the towels. Again the Shower gel was not filled. The other area of concern, was the lack of food that was prepared for breakfast. The hotel was full due to a home Jaguar Game. The kitchen prepared very little food. The ran out of egg, fruit, juice and potatoes. When questioned, staff responded that they were “slammed” for the last three hours and they did not know the number of guest in the hotel. How they were unaware of the number of guests is unacceptable. They just needed to look at the computer. Staff also stated that they were not going to cook more food because it would take too long. I would return to this hotel based on the experience with the front desk. However, housekeeping and kitchen staff needs to reminded the importance of customer service, listening to needs and can about their customers and the Hyatt name and reputation.

If you’re looking for someplace that is slightly below the standards of a Motel 6, I believe this hotel is right for you. I’ve been an HHonors member for 23 yrs and loyal enough that I’ve been Diamond for several years now, so I am very familiar with Hilton standards. Over the past year I’ve shifted to Marriott because of a string of issues, from bad properties to corporate doing away with Executive Lounges and other perks. This Hampton Inn is a great example of how bad things can get when Hilton stops inspecting properties or caring about reputation. The room should’ve been remodeled at least five years ago. The window was so dirty inside and out that I couldn’t see through it. The bedding was terrible and the mattress was garbage. Biggest waste of points ever. When I went to breakfast each morning the staff were busy texting and super unfriendly, even when offered a Russian greeting. The last day of my stay the two women running the breakfast were both on their phones, leaning against the breakfast bar right in front of the food. I waited and one of them finally moved. I grabbed breakfast (avoid the sausage and eggs at all cost), but became frustrated when I couldn’t get the other woman to move from in front of the condiments and seasoning. I tried English, Russian and even Spanish (I’d heard them speaking Russian the day prior) but it was like talking to a rock. I was interrupting their social time and they weren’t allowing it. I tried to tell the manager about it and he seemed outright hostile that I’d even mention it. The truly sad part is this franchise is run by a company that has a Residence Inn next door. That property is excellent- 5/5 stars with a great staff and manager. Perhaps Marriott just pays more…whatever the case- I believe you should avoid this place at all cost.
