Our two bedroom apartment was the highlight of our two week vacation. Absolutely no convenience was forgotten. The kitchen had all the dishes, utensils, cookware and included a water boiler, toaster and microwave. The dishwasher worked great and a welcome basket was provided. We were very happy with the large bathrooms and great bed linens. Upon arrival our lovely host gave a thorough tour of the grounds and abbey, she was so welcoming. My husband & I really want to return to stay longer now that we know how centrally located Fort Augustus is in the Highlands. Our apartment was the original Captains Quarters and in the Old School section of the Abbey. Staying there was so convenient, literally you can walk to many restaurants and there's loads of parking on the grounds of The Highland Club. We took the high speed boat trip, located just outside the gates across Loch Ness, it was thrilling. We cannot wait to return to this magical place.
First of all, the name of the property on this TripAdvisor listing is incorrectly titled ”Loch Ness Gate House” when it should be ”Loch Ness Guest House.” Hopefully that can be fixed so people can find it. This is a quirky little property in the extremely quaint Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness. It feels like a cross between a B&B and an AirBnB. Door code gets sent by email before your arrival so you can let yourself into the building and go to your unlocked room, which has the room keys on the bed. Yet they offer a decent continental breakfast in the morning (get there early for best selections!). Rooms were nothing fancy, but very comfortable. We slept very well. The property is a very short walk into ”town”, which is arrayed along the Caledonian Canal and its locks, and which is home to a couple of pubs offering a good dinner when you get hungry. We were in Fort Augustus because we were making a short venture into the Scottish Highlands. We wanted to see Loch Ness and take a short tour boat cruise, and Fort Augustus offered a good chance to do that without driving all the way to Inverness. There aren't a lot of lodging options nearby, and we were very happy with the quality and value of our stay of the Loch Ness Guest House.
You can’t beat this ideal location!’ The room was so clean with great view of the lochs. We walked to a boat for a tour and got to see many boats come thru the lochs— what a lot of work but amazing to watch how the loch system works! Wish the shop below stayed open later(close at 4:30) and opened earlier for those that need a good coffee boost in the morning!! We would definitely stay here again!! Very impressed with the renovations they did on this place! Stair well was nicely lit up . Love this place best of everywhere we stayed in Scotland!

What a wonderful place to stay. The rooms modern and spacious with towels, tea and coffee and hair dryer provided. The rooms were warm, and had lovely window views of Fort Augustus. The little outside space is a wonderful addition to the room, with tables and chairs which looks over the canal. The communication was 10/10 and you had every detail needed upon arrival. You are right in the centre of the village. With a few places to choose from to eat, all of which looked fab. We ate at the Bothy which had wonderful service and sold great pub grub, and was family friendly. There is a petrol station near by with a shop for anything extra you might want. During the day there are lots of lovely places to have lunch and grab a coffee from. We are in the Canal cafe which was lovely breakfast and coffee and a delightful shop too. We also had soup and a panini in little café opposite which was lovely too. I would throughly recommend using the cruise Loch Ness boat trip from here too. The tour guides were fab and the trip lasted a good 50 min. You can grab a drink and snack on this trip too. Parking - there is a car park near by. However, opposite the hotel is marked parking which is free to use.

We stayed on a whim, last minute. We were already heading up to Torridon and decided to cut Skye from the trip and stay in the Glencoe area for three extra days instead. Our room was stunning and quite large for the UK. Dinners were excellent and so was the breakfast. But best of all was the staff, who constantly went out of the way to help and were lovely to our five-year-old daughter. This is truly a special spot for exploring the less frequented area of Invergarry, which is neatly nestled between Glencoe and Loch Ness.
