Littledean House Hotel

This is a super little pub with a lovely space out back, undercover bar & views. They dont serve food but you can eat close by. Rooms are standard but adequate & comfortable at a fair price. Host made me more than welcome & he is obviously investing in the pub, with all its quirky pub memorabilia. The Rugby was on when I went & we had free homemade sausage rolls.

The most amazing experience, 4 different rooms of immersive art set to music, loved it, suitable for all ages, recommend to all. Recommend at least 30 mins in each room, then go back & do it again. Each room was different, can't rate this highly enough.

Lovely location and friendly staff, however the room was very noisy with running water and flushing from other rooms, loud enough to prevent me from sleeping and I'm half deaf.

Absolutely dreadful place . Told by front of house staff " kitchen and bar are closed on a Tuesday night and no breakfast on Wednesdays . The room was awful with peeling paint on tables and furniture . The bed was dreadfully lumpy with no support . The TV didn't work . 4 steps down directly after my rooms door . Hallways were badly lit and very dingy . Threadbare carpets everywhere. Rotten window frames .

A really lovely pub/hotel. We stayed in the middle of October. Our room was very well appointed for the cost. The bed was incredibly comfortable, more so than more expensive hotels that we have stayed in. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating and the pub friendly and cosy. Would highly recommend.

Hotel all locked up when we arrived to check in at ~5:30 on a Tuesday in the rain. Only option was to phone the number on the door (very poor signal in area) and was told someone would come to open up. About 15 mins later this happened and advised the owner had suddenly had to go to the hospital with her new-born baby, thus apologies. Provided with room key and where it was located, advised that no food available that evening nor any breakfast. Two of three restaurants a few miles away that were recommended were both found to be closed and third was quite expensive. Ended up in the Belfry 200yds down the road (see separate review). Room was OK with twin beds but also quite cold and no extra heating available with central heating turned off. Also quite an awkward room entry with 4 steps down into the room, especially when handling cases. Not the best experience for the first night of our staycation. On checking out next day did get help with cases as it was raining heavily.

On arrival there was no staff to be found. Entrance was at the back of the hotel from the car park, the building was very dated with used beer kegs strewn everywhere. What once must have been a lovely hotel with water features and rolling lawns with numerous outhouses, is now just a local bar with a garden. The rooms themselves were clean and tidy. Its a shame that it has been neglected for so long. It has alot of potential if soneone is willing to spend alot of time and money..

Owners and staff were lovely from the minute we arrived. Very tired after our long drive from Scotland we were trying to figure out if we could get a large van through the tunnel to the car park. Sandeep came over and assured us it was possible, pointing to a similar sized van already parked there. Sharon at reception was great. Genuinely interested in the reason for our stay and really helpful, despite having hurt her leg and being immobilized our keys were waiting and our breakfast order taken. The hotel is quirky and rooms and corridors involve negotiating lots of narrow sets of stairs, so not really suitable for elderly or disabled. Some rooms overlook the beer garden which can get noisy at weekends, but the double glazing does a great job and most events are over by 10pm. Rooms were spotlessly clean and included towels, two pillows, complimentary tea and coffee, locally made chocolate, bottled water hand soap, shampoo and an shower gel. No hairdryer, but asked at the bar and Sandeep arranged for one to be waiting for me at reception when I returned from my walk which I returned the next day. Great night's sleep. The beds have memory foam mattresses and were very comfy! Next day Lisa the Breakfast Manager cooked us a lovely breakfast and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast is an extra £8.50 but includes tea, coffee, juice, cereal, toast and full English (meat or vegetarian) and there was a kids menu as well. They will accommodate requests for things like scrambled egg on toast or filled rolls but we didn't need this. Full English was two slices of bacon, two fried eggs, sausage, mushroom, baked beans and tomato with one round of brown or white toast. You won't leave hungry! The breakfast area is just off the historic panelled reception area and very large and comfortable. Later we returned to our room and met Caroline the housekeeper who kindly gave us extra bottled water for our long drive to Wales and then back to Scotland. Later Lisa helped us check out, return the hairdryer and pay for breakfast and saw us back to the car park. All in all a great experience and if I had one regret it was that we didn't have time to visit Littledean Jail as we had to be in Wales next day to collect a car.

Nice little pub/hotel on the outskirts of Cinderford. Warm welcome and recommendations on places to visit and eat. Rooms were small but clean and parking was free. Breakfast was extra and good value for money. Would happily stay again if in the area.
