Arrived in town very early and Rory let us leave the car for the day while we walked the town and Botanical Garden. Chatty check in with same later with great recs for dinner and evening activities. Room quiet as a tomb, immaculately clean, pristine beautifully tiled bath with curtained floor shower soft towels and nice toiletries. Universal outlet for charging our shaver, rare in NZ. TV with plenty of international channels. Kitchenette with French press coffee maker, milk in the fridge, microwave, all you’ll need. Comfortable queen bed with top grade linens. 15 minute walk to everything. Ate across the street at Bog, the Irish pub and very pleased. Gated security after 9:30 pm with fob access. All at a very reasonable price.

The loveliest - particular thanks to Sam - front desk staff (and efficient too). Excellent location, only a short walk to the centre, and very pleasant if you go through the park. There is also a bus stop directly outside; it will take you to the centre, or go to the bus station and take a trip to Sumner or Lyttleton - both worth a visit. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds comfortable. For some reason though, complimentary water and crisps only appeared on our first day! Useful to have a guest laundry, but be warned there is only one machine for all floors... The kitchen area is fine, but not for those who want to cook up a storm - you need to ask for pots and pans. Not a problem for us as we preferred to eat out (try Rangoon Ruby nearby, good, if somewhat 'neutralized' flavours, as the waitress herself put it!) . Overall a really pleasant stay in a very interesting city.

It seems that I accidentally booked the biggest room and left the front desk a little far. The last section of the road was going to climb the stairs. The waiter helped us to get a very heavy box. The kitchen facilities were all in place. Although we didn’t cook our own tea, we had a small table. Sitting on it is still very good parking is very convenient breakfast is also very delicious

The Classic Villa is perfectly located for a stay in Christchurch: - easily accessible from the airport, - just opposite the famous Arts Centre with its historic buildings (we recommend a guided tour) and highly recommended eateries (Cellar Door for dinner, Bunsen for coffee and cake) - a few steps from the magnificent botanical gardens and - all the city's attractions a pleasant stroll away (e.g. Christ Church Cathedral, the Cardboard Cathedral, CoCA: Center of Contemporary Art, the Christchurch Art Gallery). The reception at the small but excellent hotel is very friendly and extremely attentive. The breakfast is generous and filling for the day. Our room was charmingly furnished and the bathroom and WC were generously equipped. The lounges were perfect for reading and daydreaming after a day out …. We will gladly return to The Classic Villa. Steve and Jackie are wonderful hosts.

A lovely two bedroom apartment in a conveniently central location, just behind the Art Gallery and a short walk to the Cathedral. We arrived after hours on a Saturday and the Justin key app on the phone worked well. Took a bit of figuring out the system for accessing the building having worked out exactly where to park our car (the allocation of parks follows no set pattern that I could discern). Realised later it would have been easier to unpack bags direct from the carpark to level 3, perhaps some more specific instruction would be an improvement. Our park was on the roof so uncovered which is less than ideal in the rain but not a major issue. The apartment itself, two bedroomed on level 3 was spacious, modern and well equipped. It suited our needs perfectly. Clean and comfortable. I think the apartments are perhaps individually owned so perhaps we just struck it lucky with nice furniture and fit out. Apartment 3E is recommended to others for a comfortable stay in Christchurch.

On arrival we were met by the charming Kimberly our host. Although arriving before booking in time due to an early flight we were able store our luggage for the morning. The room was luxurious and very tastefully decorated to match the era of the building. The bed comfortable, the shower hot and altogether spotless. The full breakfast we had was deliciously cooked by George the chef. Being so close to everything by walking distance just topped it off. Clearly a jewel in the Crown. I lived in Auckland a long time ago, but South Island landed for the first time this time. Speaking of Christchurch, there is only B & B! And the hotel and apartment are ignored and decided here. It was a really nice building as we looked at. All the interiors and the courtyard are cute. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Excited with a 4-year-old daughter and mother! The breakfast was delicious too. The bathroom is also elaborately decorated, but one difficulty. It was a bit of a unique floor plan, and the shower water flowed to the cupboards and toilets. The drainage of the drain is not bad, but it is probably due to the floor plan. Later, I'm full of family, so everyone is always busy and I don't want to catch anything. When I first arrived, nobody came out even if I pushed the bell, and when I was in trouble, a customer who went out happened to open the door and put it inside (lol) It was exactly the same when other guests came, just the entrance We stayed in the room next to us and opened the door (laughs) The owner family feels good, but it seems to be busy all day. I thought this price was a bit expensive for B & B per night, but I was satisfied. Finally, the security aspect is subtle. Christchurch is safe and should be fine, but if you are worried about it, we recommend a hotel.

Excellent place to stay & more like a hotel than motel. Very friendly and helpful staff, well-organised and made us feel welcome from the get-go which is always a great start to a holiday. Spacious room, all amenities provided - iron + board, hair dryer, kettle + tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar, air conditioning, satellite t.v., comfortable recliners, cutlery and so-forth. Very comfortable and large bed, lots of drawers etc. to store belongings. Even the bath had water jets! Cleaned well every morning. All ran like clockwork. Would most definitely recommend this location for all of the above and location - is a short walk into town and the airport bus is literally around the corner.

Perfect stay at a perfect price. Rooms and linen are very clean. Hospitable and friendly service with a smile. Close to the centre and very easy walk to the CBD. Facilities are clean and there are no maintenance issues. Kitchenette is perfect for what we needed. All the sports channels on the TV and the bed was very comfy. It was a very clean unit upon arrival. Also the beds were comfortable with just enough bedding on each bed. I did think the crockery and cutlery was a little sp**** if there were extra people coming to visit. It could of been advisable to tell the person booking the unit that they were upstairs as well as downstairs. Overall the stay was pretty good.

We contacted The Parque directly to avoid writing a negative review online, but with no response to our email after several weeks, decided to let others know what could happen to them. This is the first negative review we have ever written, as we try to give only positive feedback. We booked a Grab One deal for a night’s accommodation after reading good reviews. Communication when booking was very good. We received an email with our access pin code the morning before we arrived. Everything went smoothly up until this point. We arrived 10 minutes before check in time after a long journey, looking forward to freshening up before meeting with family living in Christchurch. Our pin code didn’t work and when we phoned the number on our email, were told that the code would work at 2:00 p.m., the specified check in time. This was our first disappointment, as places we have stayed in the past have always welcomed us to use our room or communal amenities if the room wasn’t ready. Our 2:00 p.m. check in time came and went, with our pin code continuing to fail. When we phoned again (at our personal expense as the free phone in the lobby was no use to us outside) we received no answer. Luckily, the cleaner saw us and let us in but told us immediately that the pin codes had not been working for her also. She seemed very flustered as she also told us she had not been able to finish cleaning and had not been told that anyone was staying in our room that night. Eventually we got through to someone by phone again and were given another pin code to try. This also failed. A third number worked, at which time the cleaner requested time to finish cleaning our room. We left the building and checked the latest pin code at the front door to find that it failed again. We phoned again and were told to expect an email with a new pin code within half an hour. Two hours later we still hadn’t received an email. By this time we had met our family without being able to freshen up or change out of our travelling clothes. This was upsetting. We phoned again and were given a fourth pin code. This time it worked and we had no further issues. Other guests we saw during our stay told us they had a similar experience. We hope this never happens to anyone else. We will never stay again.
