The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of the old city, making it very convenient to get anywhere. The management is also quite on top of things, keeping the property well-maintained. They even have security patrolling at night, which is something I didn't see at other similarly-priced hotels in Chiang Mai.
On the downside, the room felt a bit old overall, and the decor didn't quite match contemporary Chinese aesthetics. Plus, the swim-up room I was assigned was right by the main road. To make matters worse, a neighbor actually walked across my balcony, along the pool edge, to get back to their room... that design felt like a bit of a flop ☹️.
In our ground-floor room, the drain would occasionally smell, which was quite a bugbear, though I heard this is a common issue for ground-floor hotels within the old city.
As for food, the breakfast was a bit 'Westerner-friendly' – generally quite sweet, and the buffet selection was limited. Even when I asked for less sugar when ordering à la carte, it was still quite sweet.
However, the gym facilities are extensive, and they offer bicycles for rent, which is very convenient.
Overall, there were a lot more Western guests than Asian. It seems more suited to the holiday habits of Westerners, and I wouldn't recommend it for others.
