Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai

Witnessing the prosperous past of Chang Klan Road, the Eastin Tan Chiang Mai was, upon its opening, a significant large four-star hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. With over five hundred rooms and a magnificent ballroom, it once hosted numerous official conferences, exhibitions, and large business travel events in Northern Thailand, becoming a highly favored lodging for early Chinese tourists visiting Chiang Mai. As time has passed, the facilities have acquired a rich patina of age, yet the hotel retains its inherent elegant Lanna style. It boasts a highly recognizable rooftop pool, offering views of Doi Suthep. Its location is exceptional, just steps away from Marriott and Le Meridien, and a short stroll to the InterContinental Mae Ping. At night, a visit to Hard Rock Cafe promises live bands. While the hardware may no longer reflect its former glory, it remains clean and well-maintained. Travelers who prefer nostalgic cultural explorations can touch upon Chiang Mai's early tourism memories here, enjoying rare convenience in the bustling city center at an affordable price.

The location is fantastic. There's a convenience store right out front, plenty of currency exchange booths nearby, and Big C is within walking distance. Major tourist attractions are also close by, making it very convenient to get around. The facilities are a bit old, which is a minor downside, but it's still great value for the money. Be sure to bring your own toothbrush and razor, as they are not provided.

The location is the best. It's a 4-star hotel, but it's old, so it's huge, but you can feel the traces of time. It seems to be about the same size as the Marriott across the street. It was great that there were several night markets nearby, and it was convenient to go anywhere. Don't expect much from breakfast. There's nothing to eat...

Spacious room. One regret, though, is that all rooms equipped with a King Size bed seem to have a connecting door to the neighboring room: sometimes you can hear the neighbors a bit too clearly. The salads offered at the pool bar are excellently fresh, though a bit expensive.

Great walkable location. There's a 7-Eleven and a laundry service right across from the hotel, which is really convenient. Night markets and massage shops are just 2-3 minutes away, making them easy to access. You can also walk to Tha Phae Gate, the Old Town, and temples. Plus, there's a Korean restaurant called Geumsujeong on the first floor, perfect for when you're craving Korean food.

Great location right on Chang Klan Road, with a 7-Eleven directly across from the hotel. Very convenient for getting around, and the price was reasonable. The Marriott is diagonally opposite, and the Intercontinental is behind the hotel. To the right are street-side restaurants. It feels like it was probably a mid-to-high-end hotel when it first opened, but over time, it hasn't been well-maintained. The downsides are that the hotel is very old, and you could even see unwashed bloodstains on the sheets. The room lighting was very dim, and the hotel's swimming pool was closed for maintenance during my stay. If you don't mind these issues, then it's fine.

The pool even has a bar! Great location and good value for money.
