Melia Chiang Mai

First, the pros: The service was very responsive. Any request I made via phone was quickly attended to. I particularly want to highlight: ❗️❗️❗️ The breakfast restaurant was excellent. It was on par with, if not better than, many 6-star hotels I've stayed in, even though the selection wasn't as vast! Every dish tasted great! The environment was also lovely, and there were plenty of staff members providing service. Especially the staff member directing traffic at the entrance – he was incredibly dedicated and professional! He definitely deserves a special shout-out! Minor cons ❌: The room facilities are indeed quite old. Many things had small issues, but they were still usable. Water tended to leak out of the bathroom, and the air conditioner's outdoor unit was quite noisy; I had to wear earplugs to sleep. 🏊♀️ The pool was quite small; when it was crowded, it felt like a sardine can.

This hotel is a must-stay if you're traveling with kids. We arrived at 11 AM, and they kindly let us check in early. They even prepared an adorable elephant welcome, which was a lovely touch and made us feel so valued! The kids' play area is huge!

I was worried it would be cramped for three people, but it turned out to be spacious enough for four! The sofa is huge, easily big enough for two to sleep on, and there's also a large square chaise lounge. Kicking back and watching TV with a drink was just incredibly comfortable.

The rooms were comfortable, and my kids absolutely loved the pool – they didn't want to leave after three days! The best part, though, was the kids' club. As a solo parent traveling with children, it was a lifesaver, allowing me to go shopping and relax. It was truly ideal. The kids even said they want to stay here again next time we're in Chiang Mai.

The hotel is a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport and a 15-minute walk to the Old City, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I stayed in a corner flat for a week, and the room was very spacious. Housekeeping was excellent, keeping it spotless every day. The 21st-floor lounge was quiet and offered great service – a good alternative for breakfast if the main dining area on the first floor is crowded. On the second floor, there's a kids' club where children can play freely, or you can book a class a day in advance; they have a wide variety of classes daily. The outdoor pool on the second floor is a saltwater pool, and it wasn't crowded in February. Overall, the hotel was great and provided a comfortable environment for my trip to Chiang Mai.
