The Read House Hotel

This was our first time staying at the Read House and we were thoroughly impressed!! From the valet attending to us immediately upon arrival and explaining the process to checking in and being offered an upgrade which we agreed to, this hotel simply checked all the boxes for us! After checking in we spent some time at the bar having a few drinks where Ameilia (our bartender) was amazing!! She shared her knowledge of Chattanooga with us which was greatly appreciated! We went to dinner in town following up with drinks at another local bar, then ending up back at the Read House bar to end the night thanking Amelia and the other bar tenders for their graciousness. We only stayed one night due to our hectic work schedules, but we will be back!! The accommodations were top notch. The only disappointment was that on the website when we booked it said the pool would reopen on March 7th which was the day we were checking in and upon arrival we were made aware that this amenity would not be available to us. This was one of the top reasons we chose this venue due to wanting to unwind and relax.

Read Hotel is a beautiful historic hotel. The lobby is classic and our Manor room was well appointed. We encountered two problems though. The front desk clerk was very short with us at checkin and seemed annoyed to answer our questions about valet parking. But, most importantly, our room was so very noisy at night. The walls are paper thin and we heard every conversation in the neighboring room. Also, the doors in our hallway closed with a loud bang every time a guest closed their door. It was one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever encountered in a hotel. At checkout the clerk did not greet us except to ask if we wanted our receipt printed or emailed. No “How was your stay?” was asked. We chose not to complain to her at checkout as she didn’t seemed concerned about us as guests.

Very lovely old, old hotel in downtown Chattanooga. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and both the food as well as service were excellent!
