Best Western Mangga Dua Hotel and Residence

The room was on the 31st floor, so the view was absolutely amazing. We even saw fireworks at night since it was Independence Day (they were small though). You could also clearly see the trains! However, the shower room didn't seem to have been cleaned properly as there was hair in the drain. Overall, it's an old hotel, but I'd recommend it if you're looking for a great view, especially for train enthusiasts.

The room was surprisingly old and rundown. I'm a retired traveler, on the road about 250 days a year. I had a great experience at the Best Western Bandung previously, so I booked this hotel without hesitation. However, it turned out to be the worst accommodation I've stayed in so far. The windows were covered with an ill-fitting film that was peeling off, and the flooring was torn in several places. The towels had dates or serial numbers written on them with a pen, and the wardrobe only had one door. There was no safety deposit box, and the TV was small, old, and couldn't even get proper channels. I don't know what other room types are like, but hosting guests in a room like this is a matter of basic conscience. The breakfast was average, but the food quality wasn't good. On the bright side, the swimming pool facilities were nice, and I could buy beer at the convenience store in the basement. I also appreciated the kindness of the doorman and guard who ran to open the door for me from a distance.

Most hotels in Jakarta are showing their age, and this one was no exception – quite worn out. The elevators are shared with the residences, so if you catch it at the wrong time, you'll be waiting. What bothered me most were the small flies. It seemed like there was a large infestation within the building, mainly coming up from the sewers. There were quite a few even in the elevator, so I assume they were present on every floor. The floor coverings were all peeling off. The batteries in the safe were bulging, and the power was broken, making it unusable. While I've listed a lot of negatives, the good points were that all amenities were provided and good, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and tasted great.

The hotel is a bit out of the way and not reachable by metro. I had a good stay, and the breakfast was excellent. I would definitely return.

Great value for money. The location is close to Mangga Dua Market. Breakfast offers a good variety. The staff are very friendly. I will definitely visit this hotel again, God willing.
