Asyana Kemayoran Jakarta Hotel Review
Value for Money
Finding a four-night stay for just £55, including breakfast for two, is exceptional value. The pricing structure is also very family-friendly; breakfast is included for up to two guests, and adding young children costs just an extra £1 to £2 per child. For travelers looking to maximize their budget in Jakarta, the financial value here is hard to beat.
The Room and Amenities
The superior super king room (essentially two single beds pushed together) is surprisingly massive, offering plenty of elbow room. It features a "monster big" wardrobe providing ample storage space. Standout features include a decent-sized shower, a spacious toilet area complete with a bidet, and the rare luxury in Asia of hot water at the sink. There is also a convenient bench seat next to the kettle, a good number of plug sockets located at the desk and on both sides of the bed, and plenty of daily complimentary bottled water provided during housekeeping.
Crucially, the desktop plug socket remains powered even when the key card is removed, meaning you can safely leave your laptop or phone charging while you head out. Meanwhile, the key card system cuts power to the AC, lights, bathroom exhaust, and bedside plugs to save energy, while leaving the main door light on.
Dining and Breakfast
Served daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, the all-you-can-eat buffet offers a great variety blending European and Asian styles that changes every day. While fresh dairy is absent—a sensible choice given the local climate—there is plenty of milk, coffee, tea, and an abundance of food options, making it entirely possible to fill up and skip lunch.
Room for Improvement
While the room is fantastic overall, a few maintenance and design quirks detracted from the experience:
* Storage & Security: While the massive wardrobe is a great touch, the room lacks a safe for keeping valuables locked up—meaning items you wouldn't want stolen (even if not exceptionally high in value) have to be left unsecured.
* Appliances: The refrigerator provided wasn't that good in performance.
* Bathroom: The soap dispenser was broken, which is frustrating if you need a mid-shower top-up.
* Kitchenette/Kettle Area: The kettle leaks, causing water wastage when boiling, and it relies on a dodgy wiring setup using a connector block cut into the fridge power wire rather than a standard wall outlet.
* Preferences: Be sure to specifically request a non-smoking room at booking, as the property offers both options.
Verdict
Minor electrical, appliance, and security hiccups aside, the sheer spaciousness, massive wardrobe, excellent location close to local shops, incredible cost-to-value ratio, and hearty breakfast make this a place I would definitely stay at again.
