Hotels near Cavtat Old Town, Cavtat

We spent a week at Hotel Cavtat, half board at the end of October and left feeling a bit let down and frustrated overall. On the plus side, the weather was great, the hotel is very central and to get to Dubrovnik is easy and has been recently refurbed. It’s very clean and the rooms are comfortable with great views and scenery but the town of Cavtat is probably the sleepiest ‘resort’ we’ve ever been to. On a negative note, if we ever did return we would definitely avoid the half board option as the evening meals leave a lot to be desired. We booked half board thinking it was near the end of season and from the evening meals it seemed the chef was eager to go on his holiday too ! Breakfast was good we thought for a 3/4 star hotel but evening meals were school dinners at best but with a little thought and consideration to guests it needn’t have been. Things like stale brick like bread rolls, cold and tasteless soup rehashed from yesterday evenings leftovers, ‘show cooking’ was basically a piece of fish or pork on a hot plate (that was it, just that then left to go like cold rubber) was the norm and don’t even go there with ‘cod soup’?? Things were left to run out, the veg was boring and tasteless and dishes like spaghetti bolognese had little seasoning. The cold meats and salad were good though but the dessert table was the mornings yoghurt removed from jars and put in bowls with the cherries if you were really lucky and pieces of sponge cake that was just cake mix and watermelon each and every night ! We know guests were just as frustrated as us and some even contacted jet2 to change to b and b and we saw others just look round and then go elsewhere to eat which we did on a couple of evenings too. Shame. Some staff, not all either seemed overwhelmed or uninterested and in the restaurant we never had our plates cleared while we there at any point as there was simply not enough bodies. Dirty plates, cups and saucers were just left to be cleared when the very hardworking waitresses could which was sometimes a long time and didn’t give the best ambience for eating in and the lady at the pool bar (which was closed for at least half of our stay or when it did open, opened at 1230) acted like smiling is a sin and gave off a vibe to not even approach the bar especially if you had a sunbed voucher to redeem. For the last three days we were there all the dirty glasses and bottles from three days ago were just left on the counter too. On sun beds as well, don’t fall for the signs all round the pool area saying that if you wish to use sun beds please contact the front desk or the hard sell on check in as it’s a con to make you spend at the bar. At this which time of year it’s absolutely not necessary to do unless you want to be front row by the pool. Save your 5/10 euros a day, sit where you like and enjoy a beer or soft drink from the Studenac supermarket 200 yards away and smile like we did once we’d realised. Ps. Cavtat only 10/15 mins from the the airport and the hotel well located within the resort itself. Upon arrival we were assigned a ”Park View” room...essentially the balcony was up against a cliff face with no sun. Got upgraded to a sea view room for an extra €50 per night...great value as the morning coffees overlooking the sea and the glorious sunsets became a highlight of the holiday...good restaurants nearby. Would defo return to the hotel / area.

I liked the place so modest and down to earth clean n the service is lovely I would definitely recommend it

Entrance was unimpressive as needed to be cleaned.. check-in was good ..room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the beach had to leave doors open as room had a smell .I think they should have no smoking room together as we had smokers either side and could not sit out on our balcony as smell n smoke wafting over..food good but breakfast absolutely awful we were left hungry and went to the shop for some crisps.drinks as it has been said coke..orange.. lemonade really bad we bought coke from shop which was so overpriced..most of staff ok just all look miserable..we found that the hotel could be higher star rating just needs lots of tlc..pool ok sea hard to get into very stony .. lovely walk into cavtat which was a lovely place to visit
