Venezuela Marriott Hotel Playa Grande

It was a convenient stay to be able to catch the flight early next morning.

This hotel is very nice, is perfect for a weekend getaway! The pool is very big and the view is amazing. The restaurants are very good and the quality of the service is superb! I will definitely be back! The only thing is that there are some details in the rooms like the one on the picture attached, and the rooms might need some renovations/updates. However, overall is an excellent hotel!

We stayed overnight after arriving in Caracas before flying to Margarita the following day. The hotel is in a residential area about 10 minutes from the airport by car. The service standards are acceptable but certainly not 5-star or in line with international Marriott standards. Interactions with staff were ‘transactions’ rather than ‘experiences’. Lack of management visibility is noticeable. Our room was spacious but the carpets were quite dated and had a strong damp smell. Inside the room there were many maintenance issues: rusted make-up mirror, broken electrical panel, faulty door lock, toilet didn’t flush and a general lack of attention to detail. The economic and financial situation in Venezuela is a factor to consider but it shouldn’t be used as a justification for poor maintenance. The swimming pool area is one of the best parts of this hotel, many loungers and a good view. There is a bakery nearby to buy a snack or have breakfast, they also do pizza in the evening. Hotel is used by several airlines for their crew accommodation but this wasn’t an issue. This hotel has potential but it needs to push harder to reach better service levels.

I didn’t stay in the hotel, but I’ve been to the restaurant. The restaurant definitely lives up Marriott standards. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Good European and local food. The place was quite and worthy for spending time. After having a lot of troubles to find a good place to eat in Caracas I found this place that I like (in Maiquetía).

i came to this hotel after arriving at a nearby posada that experienced power cut and water outage. i was exhausted and couldn't wait for utilities to be restored, and really wanted a good rest and shower prior to a long journey home. the splurge was therefore worthwhile for me. most if not all 5* properties in caracas are equipped with generators and back up tank to deal with utility outages. check in staff are friendly. several speak english. room is spacious and comfortable. water pressure at shower is inviting. there is a bar and two restaurants onsite, although one of the restaurants is currently closed. there is also a pool. i got a couple of nice souvenirs from the gift shop onsite which serves as nice momentos right before i left Venezuela on an early morning flight home

Was my first visit to Venezuela, this hotel not 5 stars of course, few staff members speak English, hotel in general old style without private beach , rooms old furniture too , TV not work good , limited variety of breakfast buffet, staff are kindly , nice location on the ocean , but I will not back !
