Mood Matuna Hotel Cartagena

Quite painful... they don't accept guests outside the one person you registered when checking in. It's then impossible to add a new guest or change the name of the guest you're welcoming. We've tried everything, they didn't want to accommodate anything. This is super painful if you just want to have fun and a good time going out. In addition, the streets are super noisy and the walls are very thin, which makes it almost impossible to sleep in after 8am. Apart from that, the staff is friendly, the place is well located, and beds are fantastic. But, all things considered, our overall experience wasn't great.

Pros: Clean room, I didn’t find it to be too loud, walked into my room with the AC already running and it was nice and cold, Nice Smart TV and Wifi, Balcony, overall friendly staff Cons: YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE GUEST with a 2 person reservation , You cant pay to switch or have extra guest they dont tell you this until AFTER you’ve paid. No Microwave, Fridge, or iron in the standard room. Elevator only goes up to 5th floor so try to get a room on floors 1-5. Breakfast is not free and I never received my free bottle of wine. The shower was mediocre lights were too dim for my liking and the shower head was busted Overall its a clean hotel and is walking distance from many things. It is located in not the “nicest” neighborhood. Shoutout to Orlando he’s cool!

We had a great stay at Mood Matuna. Having a hotel in such a central location was so useful. We were able to easily walk to the old town and Getsemani also. The room with the private pool was a god choice as it was so hot and nice to cool off after a walk around. The area around the hotel did have some people sleeping on the streets but no one bothered us in fact the people in general were really helpful and friendly including the staff at the hotel. The room was cleaned thoroughly each day and clean towels left when we needed them. Overall a great four nights in a central location.

Overall, I had a good experience at the hotel. During check-in, there was a slightly awkward situation with the front desk gentleman with the two-tone hair (yellow on top, black underneath), mainly due to a misunderstanding and language barrier. I admit it made me feel a little uncomfortable at first, but the rest of the staff was very helpful and professional throughout my stay. The breakfast and lunch were excellent, and the servers truly provided 10-star service with their kindness and attention. The location is also very convenient and enjoyable. The only downside is that the hotel does not allow guests in the rooms, which may be something travelers should be aware of beforehand. Aside from that, the hotel has great potential and continues to improve with minor adjustments.

My stay at Mood Matuna was amazing and made my birthday trip feel perfect. Before I arrived, Maria, Daniel, and the rest of the staff communicated with me through WhatsApp and helped with transportation, decorations, breakfast, excursions, dinner reservations, water, ice, and the sunset cruise. They answered every question with patience and kindness and never made me feel like I was asking too much. The birthday decorations were beautiful and looked even better in person. The balloons, flowers, rose petals, candles, wine, and birthday numbers made the room feel so special and were perfect for pictures and videos. I appreciated how clearly they explained the decoration package, pricing, and what was included. They even worked with my arrival time so I could create content. The room was cleaned and reset perfectly every day, and the free breakfast was really good. The staff was helpful, from bringing breakfast to the room when we were rushing to an excursion to helping with towels, water, and ice. The location was perfect, close to restaurants, nightlife, shopping, excursions, and tourist spots. Everything felt easy to get to. My only negatives were no elevator to the suite, and the pool jets were broken until the last day. Even with that, I recommend this hotel and would book here again. They are amazing. All the stuff is super friendly. The Breakfast is just out of this world. Don’t lose your time. Going to another restaurant to have breakfast. Just stay right there. That’s my advice Breakfast around Cartagena not good. There is a couple of things regarding the room. don’t take me wrong. The room is just beautiful and super clean but they give you just two towels. There is no iron in the room and no hairdryer but you can always request for and they will get it to you and within two minutes. I guess that’s their policy oh one more thing the location is just perfect is close to every little thing.
