Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Carlsbad

The room was small but otherwise quite nice. The breakfast, however, was disappointing. The first morning, there were no pastries or bagels to take back to your sleeping partner. In order to get a complete cup of coffee the process was: 1. Hunt for coffee cups, find them at the lobby coffee station, and bring some back for the other guests who are also looking for cups. 2. Back in the food area, get your cup of coffee. 3. No creamer! That was also back in the lobby. The second morning there were bagels but the toaster was all messed up because some kid was playing with the knobs while the parents looked on. (That's bad parenting and not the hotel's fault.) There was a sign referring to fresh baked items but I didn't see them on either morning. There is no casual seating anywhere on the first floor except for the breakfast area, which was off limits after breakfast because they put the chairs on top of the tables. Why is that necessary? Why not have some tables set up for people to sit at during the day? They may be doing a renovation in a few months but that doesn't do any good for the people who are there until then. There's a Chili's in the parking lot which was very busy so call ahead to put your name in. There's a Chinese buffet within walking distance which was OK and with very friendly staff.

Good hotel, a little bit on the older side. The room wasn't huge, but when we travel we don't spend too much time in the room. Very convenient location to go to Carlsbad National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Overall, the city of Carlsbad seems a little bit more expensive than some of the other towns, but I was told that is because of the oil workers, I don't know if that is true or not. The breakfast was good, the shower was hot, and the bed was comfortable. Would stay here again.

This hotel is just off a residential area and not next to the main road like most of the other hotels. It has recently been built and only open a short time. As you would expect it has a modern decor, the reception staff were polite and helpful. The room we had came equipped with lots of usb outlets, a hdmi outlet not sure what that was for, 50” tv, curtsey blinds, wifi was a good speed, nice shower and bath. I think the swimming pool was out of action when we visited but we were not going to use it. We were disappointed to leave and could not fault the hotel. It is located about a 25 minute drive to the caverns.

My family had reservations at 6 at the Pecos on the River. We had been driving a while before arriving , and checking in at Sleep Inn. Probably checked in about 3:30 with Eddie. Hotel looked clean and welcoming. We got upstairs and unloaded our belongings. Ready to relax a bit. I decided I'd get the sofa bed ready, and looked for the linens in the closet. Didn't see them. Went to front desk to ask for some. Eddie had left for the day, Selena took me down the hall to laundry. She gave me sheets. I asked for a blanket, she said they don't have any. Suggested using some towels. She was young, but trying to be helpful . I asked if she could call someone and ask. She called Savannah and found the blankets. I went back up to our room on the 3rd floor. Undid the sofa bed, and it was FILTHY. There was a white mattress cover looking thing on it. It was stained, there were crumbs , and hairs on it. I also found what looked to be some sort of evidence of bugs. (Don't know what kind.) I returned to the front desk and waited while another man canceled his reservation -it was after 4, and she had to call Eddie to clear the cancellation. I asked if housekeeping was available. Maybe they could change the pad, vaccuum,disinfect....they were gone. She offered another room, I asked her to go with me to see the state of the bed. She did, and it was even worse. Definite evidence of bugs (casings) cheetos, just gross. She called Eddie, let him know. He said to see if there was a room on the second floor. 3rd room had the sheets still on the unmade sofa bed. The sheets were stained and obviously not clean. At this point, it's been over an hour. She takes me to the room the other man had just canceled. It was the ADA room on the second floor. We pulled out the sofa bed and the mattress looked clean. under the couch we could see a dirty black sock , and a sugar packet-but I told her we'd take it as we needed to get ready and at least the sofa wasn't disgusting. I asked her to please make a note on my account to have the manager contact me prior to running my credit card to possibly reimburse some of the money for the inconvenience, and uncleanly room. Next day, new front desk girl. We have reservations for Carlsbad Caverns, and I ask at the desk for the manager, and explain a little of what was going on. She said Eddie was on his way, and she'd call when he arrived. Nobody called, I went back to desk and spoke with him. He said he didn't have the power to do anything, but he'd let Savannah (GM) know and sorry she hadn't been able to help, she had gone to the vet the day before and was busy. One of them would get back to me, even if it's just a text if we were out of pocket. A day and a half later, I still hadn't heard anything. I called the hotel and asked for GM, and was told she was running some errands, but would get back to me. Never heard, but did see charge go through on my account. I called again and spoke with Eddie. Eddie said he had spoken with Savannah , a
Fairfield Inn & Suites Carlsbad

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend as we were visiting both National Parks close by. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. They have a breakfast with lots of options. The only complaints is the pool is extremely small for a hotel with as many rooms as it has. And people were up late at night behind the hotel laughing and drinking and it was kinda hard to go to sleep as i could hear every word they were saying. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Carlsbad.
