Gerard's "Backpackers" Roomstay No Children Adults Only
4.5/59 Reviews
We were staying 4 nights at Gerald's. The accomodation is in a very good condition and very clean and offers enough space if you need to work remote. The staff is extremely friendly and well informed about hiking trails, restaurants and everything you need to know. The common kitchen is basically equipped, enough to prepare snacks, sandwiches, etc. During our stay we had one minor issue with the shower. For us it was a bit tricky and it took a while to get hot water. Besides everything was great and I can strictly recommend to stay at Gerald's.

There is no toilet paper in the room and the soundproofing is worrisome. The Malay children next door were making noise and shouting early in the morning. The sheets also have a smell.

Eight Mentigi Guest House

This was a great find, decent size room, we had a private bathroom, rooms are clean & overall good value for money, free tea/coffee station & cold water refills which I always find is a massive positive!! The hosts are absolutely lovely, very friendly & make you feel very welcome! Everything you need is practically on your doorstep, the highlands are just beautiful & we will without a doubt be back!! They also offer hiking trips (we didn’t go on it as we had other plans but it’s a great perk I think)

Tips for Travelling to Cameron Highlands

The best way to reach Cameron Highlands is by road from Kuala Lumpur or Penang. Be prepared for winding, hilly routes with breathtaking views.

The official currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), and credit cards are accepted in most places. However, carrying some cash is recommended for smaller establishments. The most common language spoken is Malay, but English is widely understood.

Remember to check Malaysia's visa policies as they differ based on nationality.
