"Recent 7 night holiday in Madeira. We stayed at the Pestana Churchill Bay Hotel in Camara da Lobos which overlooks the harbour. It is a pousada hotel which I believe once was the old fish market. The hotel is small & boutique in style, simply but beautifully presented. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional at all times. We stayed on a B & B basis, the breakfast was buffet-style, of excellent quality with plenty of choice available including fresh fruit every morning. Several good restaurants very close by, a real mecca for fish lovers. There is no parking at the hotel but they can arrange parking at a nearby covered car park for £7.50 per day. They have a pass for the barriers & you just pay the hotel at the end of your stay. We received an upgrade to a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the harbour which was lovely. However, it was immediately below the roof terrace restaurant & it was on occasions quite noisy as chairs were moved about. Only a problem if you tend to be in bed early as the restaurant serves until 10.30pm! So either ask for a room on the ground floor which also have views over the harbour or a second floor room at the far end of the building under the swimming pool area. We shall definitely return!"

"The Quinta da Saraiva is a beautiful small boutique hotel in a great position overlooking Câmara de Lobos. I would have liked to stay longer but unfortunately it was just an overnight stop. My room was quite small but lovely, with the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There’s a bar in the reception area which operates on an honesty basis when it’s unmanned. The pool and jacuzzi, overlooking the town below, are great. The hotel’s gardens are nice to explore - they grow lots of stuff, and you’re encouraged to help yourself to bananas! Breakfast was a cold platter of various meats, cheeses, salad, fruit, bread and pastries, with tea/coffee and juices. Eggs are also offered. Personally, I’d have preferred some muesli and yoghurt and more hot options, but it was very nice and well presented. A couple of things: - the hotel discourages you from drinking the water and offers expensive bottled water instead (although it was given to me free of charge when I asked for water at breakfast). So you may wish to take your own. - if you’re driving, the track to the hotel off a busy roundabout is crazy. Be prepared...I almost extended my stay just to avoid the drive out! - The hotel is a little far for walking to the nearest restaurants and to the town, and it’s hilly. I’m fine with that but it won’t suit everyone. There’s an excellent place called Polar which is very popular with locals. It’s about 20 minutes, but be prepared for a bit of a climb. "
"Top view hotel on front of sand beach ( low tide). Staff really friendly and went beyond to help. Highly recommend. Recommend the parking reservation"
"The hotel is very close to the 4 stars it has, perhaps 20 years ago, but today it has the old facilities, the room was clean but very spent. Even the ground floor, even the bathrooms spent."
"The bathroom facilities are simple, and the deluxe double room has no door. It is inconvenient to dry clothes on the balcony, and the room is too small. The environment and service are good, three meals a day are all inclusive and taste good, and the parking is convenient."
"Located about 5km from the centre but easily accessible by local bus. Airport bus stop directly outside hotel. Decent breakfast. Rooms a little old and some rooms smell musty. Feels a bit like a package holiday hotel but reasonable value for money. First time I’ve ever seen a hotel place an extra charge for using an in-room safe."
"After several nights, you will notice that one or another manco, but for us, in general, everything is still at a level where it seems appropriate to the style. Very stylish overall and the professionalism or the handling of most employees with the guests at a successful level. In fact, you must not ignore the P/L. Not for everyone the right thing, but even the situation is a super compromise for us."

AAd rianExcelent choice for our stay in Madeira. The hotel is located in a natural botanical garden - some will count this as a minus, but I disagree. On our arrival, at 2AM - Bolt cost was 25USD (31kms).
Excelent service, very clean, lots of activities and friendly staff.
Totally recommended.
AAnthonyA stunning location and a very comfortable, clean hotel with amazing views from the bedroom and restaurant. Walking opportunities are limited due to the steepness of the terrain but there’s a great path down to Curral do Freitas (45-60 minutes). Service was very good but the vegetarian food was not up to the standards that we expected. Good selection at breakfast but the hot breakfast is not kept warm. Nice jacuzzi and nice, small indoor pool.Certainly worth a visit but could be even better with better food as it’s a long way to the nearest restaurant. €3.35 bus from Funchal (No. 81) but check timetables carefully
