Pestana Fisherman Village

A Modern Hotel right inn the middle of this small village , three miles west of Funchal , with bars and restaurants right opposite the entrance of the Hotel .Self Service Breakfast was very good , Particular the selection of bakery products.etc , A full stocked Supermarket 200 metres away , Local buses to Funchal , every 20 mins for only 2.20 euros , plenty of cash machines in the village , All Restaurants & Bars accepted cards , Plenty of Sun Beds on the roof with a Splash Pool , if stopping more than 3/4 Days definitely recommend u pay the 25 euros for a family room which overlooks the very quiet courtyard , (50 % Larger ) As said before in reviews the bedroom furniture is VERY minimalistic , NOT one drawer etc , but plenty of wardrobe space , and the usual massive TV , WiFi was good , the Bed was large and extremely comfortable , with excellent bedding . The bathroom was large etc , but a VERY slippy walk in shower ??? Be aware , Finally the village streets are either cobbled and or steep We enjoyed our stay and would recommended the Hotel , which is twinned with the Pestana Winston Churchill around the corner , the public room seemed old fashion and devoid of character , but the bedrooms seem to have sea views .We preferred the Fisherman Hotel which had comfortable public rooms and super efficient front desk

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. Well equipped room with mini fridge and kettle. We did have to ask for additional hangers but they were brought immediately. Great buffet breakfast often eaten al fresco. . Very peaceful with beautifully decorated foyer and peaceful roof terrace with dinky pool.

Backs on to the Churchill Bay in a side street. No sea view but very attractive snd beautifully furnished. We were booked into the Churchill Bay . But there was ongoing noisy building work on the harbour front 5 yards from the hotel! Anyway they offered us a family room in the Fusherman Village which is a series of old street houses linked together with new build integrated behind. It is splendid. Fantastic ground floor lounge, pleasant breakfast area ( hot breakfast sadly not very hot !). And rooftop swimming pool small. With two minor caveats we loved the place. Super staff.

Camera De Lobus is the place to be! We loved staying in such a quaint, idyllic fishing village. We were amazed by just how friendly all the people were. Breakfast at hotel was good and the kitchen accommodated a gluten free dietary requirement. Frustratingly, we had little to no sleep being placed in room 101, which was facing side street ; drunken men playing music loudly sometimes until 4am. It would be a nightmare for families. Had we stayed longer, we would’ve asked to move rooms.

We received a lovely warm welcome from the staff in this beautiful modern hotel. The room was lovely and clean and had wonderful views. Staff were knowledgeable about the local area and amenities and couldn’t do enough to help . We are looking to book another stay there soon, would highly recommend.

What a wonderful little hotel. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful. Including with booking me a great small but powerful hire car to make sure it could cope with all the hills. The hotel is really well designed and passers by would often pop their head in to take a look and a photo of the decor. The room was really comfortable and the pool great escape. Parking was a minor irritation but didn’t cause me too any problems. I set off early a few days to catch sunrise and the hotel made me a lovely takeaway breakfast. Would happily stay again when back in Madeira.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas week 2023. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and clean, (shower was amazing!) The room has a little fridge in it too which was helpful. The staff were very helpful in making reservations for car hire, tour bookings and whatever else you may need. The location is right in the middle of the village so literally bars and restaurants on your doorstep. It is about 15 mins from Funchal city which was nice to visit but much preferred the little village here. The front desk very kindly surprised me with a card and bottle of sparkling wine for my birthday which we enjoyed by the pool. They also left us a gift on Christmas Eve of wine and cookies. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel, staff very helpful. The room was spacious and spotless with everything we needed. The location was perfect, we walked into Funchal a few times which was around 8k. We had a fantastic holiday will definitely come back with the family.

Perfect location at Lobos fishing bay. Very peaceful and relaxing….Rooms minimalist but more than adequate. Super comfortable extra large bed. Great spacious bathroom (plenty shelf space for all your bits!) excellent shower. Plenty choice of bars and restaurants literally when you step outside. Excellent service from all the staff….we will be back. Downside Think a little unfair having to pay extra for omelettes etc. at breakfast. Replacement of room drinking water & beverages at times spasmodic ….maybe because room was peaceful tucked away but in fairness staff responded immediately on notification.
