Cairns Queens Court
A privately owned, budget-friendly boutique property that offers a comfortable mix of traditional hotel rooms and self-contained studios, all within easy walking distance of the city centre.
Cairns Harbourside Hotel
"Excellent hotel with an excellent buffet breakfast. Definitely get a sea view room. We loved waking up to the amazing view. We like walking so we purposely didn’t stay right in the city or on the marina, it was a half hr walk to either as you are right in the middle."
Hotel Tropiq
Boasting a laid-back, mid-century tropical design, this boutique hotel features a stunning resort-style pool area that serves as an oasis for budget-conscious travellers.
Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns
"The hotel is a bit old. Overall, it was okay. It's a bit far from the pier; it takes about 20 minutes to walk there. If you're using a tour service that provides pick-up and drop-off, it's fine. But if you're traveling independently, you might want to consider staying somewhere closer."
Tropic Towers Apartments
"The hotel is located in the north, not very close to the city center, but there's a bus stop right outside. The hotel is quite nice, and it has a washing machine, which is perfect for doing laundry after swimming. Check-in is self-service, so you don't have to worry about not speaking English. The room has a TV where you can watch Netflix."
Cairns Sheridan Hotel
"Great little hotel copse to the airport. 24 hour desk fantastic due to late checkin. Fantastic breakfast"
Aspect Central
"Got economy room , only one night. Arrived late left early. Room ok, small. Had shower toilet aircon and a bed plus a jug with tea/coffee and milk, what more could you want ? Rained all night so a little noisy drip drip drip outside window. Stay ok, will get better room next time if it’s raining. Check in/out very easy, booking easy, No problems and price was good."
Floriana Boutique Hotel
"Ah the Floriana. This was an old fashioned 'guest house' in the tradition of the old English Seaside and we loved it. Having read the other review, I have to say that Maggie, the piano playing, bird loving proprieter was helpful and kind - but no, once you had your keys, she left you alone. I am not surprised she passedcomment on the TV not working - why would you watch TV in Cairns anyway. If you are expecting a five star stay then forget it, Floriana is definitely for those who feel they want independence on a budget. None of the furniture matches in the rooms and the lamps and light fittings were just about serviceable. It had seen better days, frankly. But, we had the 'flat' with a balcony and just loved coming back here - with it's colonial high ceilings and twin lazily whooshing ceiling fans. The kitchen was enough to cook up a feast and the balcony had a great breeze on hot evenings - great. Maggie rescues birds, including rainbow parrakeets - I have to say, if you are not bird lovers then you may prefer another place - all the parrots mates come to visit - loudly - from around 6.30am!! But for all that, we really enjoyed our time there. Taxis arrive instantly. Town centre is a long walk - ok every now and then, but get a taxi back from town! Turn left then first left to get to the bakers and bottle shop. But DONT use the supermarket - big rip off - go to Woolworths in town - 50% cheaper!"
Reef Gateway Apartments
"Dirty and old, bad lights and dust on the fan in particular but everywhere in general"

Royal Palm Villas
"Horrible arrived Christmas Day 2025 and left January the 2nd 2026 never seen any staff we rang for more coffee, sugar ,toilet paper plus clean towels and sheets changed as we seen no staff even though there were businesses hours at the desk was told they were not serviced apartments and it was just a starter pack and if we wanted clean towels and sheets we had to wash them ourselves the bed was hard and the room very outdated plus the photos on the internet must have been taken a very long time ago the pool wasn’t clean and not inviting wouldn’t recommend any one staying there We had a ground room floor as I can’t walk up stairs so the room above us was really noisy and when they cooked the smell went through everything"
Unique Tropic Escape 111
The Lakes Resort Cairns
"We stayed in a standard two bedroom spacious apartment that overlooked one of the pools, which was nice. Also having 4 pools to choose from was great. We visited the Thai restaurant on site a couple of times and I would recommend it. However, the resort and our apartment were tired i.e the pool had missing tiles. The showers were over the bath and would not suit anyone with mobility issues as the baths were high to step into. Our apartment would benefit from better cleaning and pillows needed to be replaced. Location is very close to the airport and with being on the 3rd floor, you can hear the planes very clearly!! It does appear that a number of the apartments are long term rental/owned rather than holiday let, but this was fine. We stayed here 10 years ago and loved it, but sadly we won’t be going back 😩"
Tradewinds McLeod Holiday Apartments
"Run down. Poorly maintained, It’s don’t cost much to put in new equipment. The microwave door handle is broken, electric fry pan looks like it from the 80’s and has no teflon Left on it, beside dirty before we used it. The steel wood is old and dirty come on it’s like $1 to put a new one in for each new guest when your paying over $120 per night surely you can put a new steel wood in a room. The manager isn’t friendly and it seems like he doesn’t want to be here. Asked a simple questions about local area and just got look at the board and walked away If we had our time over again wouldn’t stay here. We come back every two years for 1-2 weeks."
201 Lake Street
"This was our second visit. Can’t wait till next year. Our room was lovely, the facilities in it were spot on and the king size bed bed was super comfortable. The bathroom is huge with a shower and separate bath, if that’s your thing. The pool is huge and very well maintained. Free parking and the location was perfect. Suzi and her staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is a quiet and pleasant family style hotel. Thanks again Ted & Corinne"
Bohemia Resort Cairns
"That was lovely place!🌺💆🏻♀️😊 We love it. Very affordable! There is a pool as well. Very close to fast food and petrol station. Also just 5 mins away from the airport. ✈️"
Koala Court Holiday Apartments
"very friendly and comfort place. the running manager John is very kind and helpful."
Reef Palms Motel Apartments
"The lady at the Front reception was rude when I arrived didn't get good customer service from her...room I payed for the night the curtains in the room was old and handing off the rod hot water won't come on straight away have to wait 8 minutes to get hot ( water nothing ) water pressure not good - when I spoke to lady at reception same rude lady about the hot water her and her husband come to my room knocked on door and spoke very rudely to me about my complete about the hot water - they even caused me of smoking in the room when I wasn't They both are very rude people ( ****** ) I will never book at that hotel again - I'm still waiting for my bond refund - it's been 8 days I'm not happy"
181 the Esplanade
"Nice size apartments with good amenities. It's old and could use some maintenance by some of the owners, but it was clearly a high quality place when it was built. Our apartment wasn't ready when we checked in and had to wait nearly an hour. The dishes were dirty when we finally got in. The master bed base was broken and needy jerry rigging to make stop the mattress sagging. The second bedroom ceiling fan failed on the second last day of our week long stay. It was a comfortable place with secure parking. Oh... The entire East side of the building (the one we were on) is completely overshadowed by the Cairns Hospital. Yes, every room has ocean views, but some are glimpses. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. If you like to walk, Cairns city is within 1km. There is also a bus stop right outside at the hospital and tickets are cheap. Might be worth it as parking in Cairns is expensive if you can't snag a free spot. Despite the hospital neighbour, unless there's a chopper landing over the road it's generally quiet at night. The ambulances try to avoid sirens."
The Oceanfront
"Dont stay, pictures are in no way like booking site. I was greeted with intoxicated locals saying "I wouldnt stay here" Booking was to be paid upon arrival, however debited all 4 nights in advance, i needed to seek balance to be credited and awaiting that Booked on wotif but somehowe this went via *******. My wotif booking was to pay upon arrival. No wonder this was about the only hotel available in Cairns"
Waterfront Terraces
"Excellent accommodation. Rooms are lovely and clean and well equipped. We were on the ground floor which was convenient for us @# we have trouble with steps. Michelle looked after us and was so helpful. Centrally located to Cairns proper and Cairns airport. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend."
Coral Towers Holiday Apartments
"Not far from the pier. WiFi did not work in the apartment except near the door"
