Or go all the way to find the first touch? These fragmentary definitions seem insufficient to explain growth. These revitalized rooms seem to be looking for answers. Who doesn’t walk all the way, discard all the way, and then pick up all the way? I am reminded of a poem by Kahlil Gibran, which is suitable to be used here: Don’t forget why we set out just because we have gone too far.
"The B&B is located in a small alley in the Muslim Quarter, but the signs leading the way are very clear and easy to follow, making it simple to find. There are also plenty of food options nearby. It's only a ten-minute walk to the Bell Tower subway station. There's a common area where you can eat and get hot water, and the guesthouse even sells snacks and drinks, which is very convenient."

MM16738****The room was generally spacious and clean. The hotel is right next to Wenchang Gate, and the Stele Forest Museum is just a short walk away. They even provide foot-soaking tubs when you return after walking 20,000 steps daily. Breakfast was plentiful, and the hotel staff were quite enthusiastic. They also offer airport shuttle service. Although there was a minor hiccup, Manager Xia Tian handled it promptly, and my companions all felt the hotel was generally very good.

Before I went to stay at their hotel, the customer service staff should have called me to ask if I knew the specific location of the room and our hotel. Later, they sent me the specific location of the hotel, arranged the room for me in advance, and told me the room number. Moreover, their hotel is relatively easy to find, and it is also relatively close to the nearby subway entrance, which is very convenient to go to any tourist attractions. XXiaoqiyaWe stayed for two nights, on the 16th and 17th. On the 15th, I received a call from the hotel asking about our room preferences. I requested a room with a good view, non-smoking, and quiet. When we checked in, the staff assigned us room 213. This was the lowest floor I've ever stayed on in a hotel, and it was room number 13! I was surprised that the hotel actually had a room 13! How could an international hotel like this assign room 13 to a foreigner? During afternoon tea that day, besides my husband, myself, and an Asian mother and daughter, all the other guests were foreigners. This made me realize even more why I was so unlucky to get room 13! This hotel has such a unique room number 13, and they treat their own compatriots differently from foreigners!
However, the smart toilet in room 13 was broken. It wouldn't automatically lift the lid or flush when you stood in front of it. What was even more unbearable was that as soon as you sat on it, the toilet would make a loud gurgling sound and automatically spray water on your backside. We tried it twice, and it happened both times. Also, the light switch was malfunctioning and didn't work. As a result, our room was changed to room 206.
Neither room 13 nor room 06 had a French garden view; you could only see trees outside the window. Room 06 overlooked a concrete platform. I stayed during the off-season, and there were only a handful of guests at both afternoon tea and breakfast. Even during the peak breakfast time at 8 AM, there were only four tables with no more than ten guests. In such an off-season, why couldn't they offer us a higher floor with a better view? The male butler from the hotel called in advance on the 15th to ask about my room preferences; wasn't that just being insincere and fake?
The staff's service level was inconsistent. Two female servers at afternoon tea and breakfast simply didn't observe guests' needs. The slim, tall female server in the afternoon tea restaurant had an ice-cold expression and no proactive service awareness. One female server in the breakfast restaurant looked like she hadn't woken up yet, with messy hair, no makeup, and ill-fitting work clothes, completely lacking the demeanor of a star-rated hotel employee. More importantly, this server didn't proactively observe guests' tables. Every time, we had to call her to take away the empty plates. Even more exaggerated, when she took away empty plates, she wouldn't simultaneously take away empty cups, nor would she think to ask.
Let's talk about the problems with the breakfast restaurant: First, the flowers on the dining tables were fake! For a 'diamond-level' hotel like this, how can they put fake flowers on the tables? If they want to save costs, there are many ways: place some air plants or soilless succulents, or even small, easy-to-care-for plants. Anything real would be more tasteful than these fake ones. Regardless, a 'diamond-level' hotel should not have fake flowers on its dining tables. This is disrespectful to guests. Second, there was a wide variety of bread, but no chain-type toaster to heat the bread. This is usually a staple at the bread station in five-star hotels. Yet, at this 'super five-star' hotel, you can only eat cold bread for breakfast. Third, the restaurant only provided toothpicks, not dental floss sticks. Nowadays, even very ordinary restaurants offer dental floss sticks. A 'diamond-level' hotel like this should provide guests with dental floss sticks, and ideally, toothpick brushes.
Additionally, the steps in the bathrooms of both room 13 and room 06 were damaged. In room 13, the hotel actually used cheap, uneven gray adhesive corner guards, which looked very out of place and clashed with the exquisite French decor. They should have used brass stair nosings!
During my two-day stay at the hotel, Ms. Doris Du's kindness, politeness, proactive work attitude, and professional image left a very good impression on me. After we checked in and received our key, she led us to our room. She first gave us a tour of the hotel and introduced its history. On the day we checked out, she happened to be on duty at the front desk. She was the only staff member at the hotel who immediately stood up to greet guests upon seeing them! The only one! This small professional gesture of hers was like the first ray of sunshine in the morning, warming my heart!
Recalling my check-in, there was a male and female staff member at the front desk. They did not stand up to greet us when guests checked in. When we received our room cards and got up to leave, they remained seated without moving. This is disrespectful to guests. Staff should stand up to greet guests when they arrive, ask them to sit down, and then sit down themselves to process the check-in. When guests receive their room cards and get up, the staff should also stand up to see them off. Such basic courtesies of polite welcome and farewell were completely lacking!
On the day I checked in, I had two items of clothing that needed ironing. The female staff member who was on duty at the front desk that day came to our room to collect them. During the process of opening the door to see her, handing her the clothes, and briefly communicating with her, she maintained an ice-cold demeanor throughout, without a hint of a smile. She was not the only female staff member in this hotel who provided service without a smile.
In summary, all these issues, and more, expose the hotel's unprofessional training and inadequate management.
Sofitel Legend People's Grand Hotel Xian is not directly affiliated with the Sofitel group; it is part of the People's Grand Building owned by Shaanxi Urban Investment and Operations Group Co., Ltd., and is operated by AccorHotels, a French hotel management group. Therefore, the experience was vastly different from the Sofitel hotels I've stayed at abroad.

DdensyWe had an AMAZING stay. Top notch service, great amenities, perfectly located in the middle of Xi’an city. Luxury and class without too hefty a cost, it’s a no-brainer to book a stay here.
What we loved:
- Xi’an city is bustling with life, but once you walk into MEILIE Ling all the noise goes away. It was such a peaceful stay!
- Le Labo toiletries. Enough said. When we stepped into the hotel, we were warmly greeted with this comforting Le Labo scent too 🥰
- Bathrobe was sooooo comfy and furry in the inside!
- Our booking came with breakfast and high tea, but the hotel also offered supper every night. Meals were substantial, not just measly snacks, and you could also request for it to be sent to your room.
- Hospitality was off the charts. They always made sure we were comfortable, and any request we sent them via WeChat was promptly responded too. Love the team at MEILIE Ling 💯
Honestly would love to gatekeep this place, but this experience was too good not to recommend it to others. Hoping they’ll get the recognition they deserve and open in more locations around China. 祝你们生意兴隆！

AAnonymous UserThe hotel facilities are very new, and the rooms are quite spacious. Its location near Datang Everbright City and Joy City is a definite plus. However, being right at the entrance of a major scenic area and on a one-way street makes getting around a bit inconvenient, especially in the evenings. This is something for other travelers to keep in mind.
Despite the bustling location, the hotel itself was quiet, and I had a good rest. The only real downside was the breakfast, which had a very limited selection.
What's more, for some reason, even the restaurant staff during breakfast were asking us for positive reviews. If this is for staff evaluation, the hotel should really consider guest privacy and approach guests at appropriate times without being intrusive. Plus, the breakfast staff generally don't have direct interactions with guests beyond serving food, so it felt quite abrupt and out of place.
On a positive note, both the front desk and housekeeping services were excellent.

SSydSydneyGreat hotel, excellent location. Metro staion Guangjijie line 6 out front alongside a convenience store, KFC and half a dozen nice Chinese food outlets. Drum tower 250m down the road, and Bell Tower and the main boulevard a bit further. All near the south gate.
Breakfast is a modest variety but delicious, and well re-stocked.
The room was large, with excellent fittings and furnishings, with a nice local outlook from the windows. The window opens for some fresh air if required.
The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers. And free washing detergent.
All the staff from reception to cleaners to cooks are lovely, and do their jobs really well.

AAnonymous UserFantastic location. Within few minutes' walking distance to Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Kaiyuan Mall & Muslim Quarter. It's also possible to take a longer (15-20 minutes') walk all the way to Shuyuanmen street or even to Yongningmen gate.
Exit B of Zhonglou Metro station is but a few steps away, which affords easy access to the rest of the city, including outskirt areas (making it possible to go by Metro directly to Huaqing Palace and Metro + bus to Terracotta Warriors).
Travellers with larger luggage may prefer to use Exit A of Zhonglou station which is also less than 200m away as Exit B only has staircase access at time of writing.
Alternatively, use the escalators of the adjoining shops located just before going up the stairs of Exit B. This leads you into an area with several Hanfu dress up shops and a food court at street level. Good, reasonably priced local food selections and open till late night.
Many vendors on carts also turn up on the street right outside the hotel at night. Souvenirs and supper snacks sorted. There are also many restaurants and spots for coffee right along the street and a 7-11 within a tiny alley that's part of the larger building.
Street level elevators lead to Level 6, where the lobby is located. Only guests with room cards are able to scan and access the higher floors where the rooms are, so security is good.
Apart from the 5-star location and convenience, the hotel's service itself is commendable. Housekeeping adheres to the Do Not Disturb sign when necessary and does a good job of cleaning otherwise. Only items missing are hair conditioner and body lotion but these can be easily brought from home. Bottles of drinking water are refilled daily. So too red and white tea sachets. Housekeepers themselves are also very friendly and always keep a great attitude even if you can't speak the language.
Rooms come with blackout curtains and are generally quiet unless people are speaking loudly in the corridors.
There are smoke-free rooms and the general areas are also pleasantly smoke-free.
There is also an in-house tour desk.
Front desk was always helpful with questions and adept with using translation apps. Special mention must be made of Receptionist Wu, who aided with e-hailing booking and also easily sorted out a mix up with hotel pickup/drop off from airport.
A good stay that you can't go wrong with!

The staff were incredibly warm and enthusiastic, offering flexible and genuinely thoughtful service. As a smart hotel, the intelligent features like AC and curtains were very convenient. The room featured comfortable bedding, a bathroom with separate wet and dry areas, a purified water dispenser, and a mini-fridge. There's also a self-service laundry room and free parking, which met all my travel needs. The room corners were dust-free, the bed linen was pristine white and fresh, and there was no water pooling in the bathroom. Housekeeping was meticulous daily, and the breakfast area cutlery was properly sanitized, ensuring a worry-free dining experience. Conveniently located near the high-speed train station and bus stops, the hotel is well-soundproofed and quiet. The price is reasonable, offering significantly better value for money than other hotels in the same price range. Overall, a perfect experience! I'll definitely choose Jingyu again next time I'm in this city and will highly recommend it to my friends!
