Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center

I have four main dissatisfactions: 1. The front desk staff were completely humorless. 2. My room faced the street and was incredibly noisy; I couldn't get any sleep. 3. For a 5-star hotel, the breakfast was very mediocre – just enough to fill you up. 4. There were no slippers or dental kit in the room; I had to go to the front desk to ask for them.

"Backroom"... This is an ancient hotel with a strong moldy smell. The furnishings are old-fashioned, like something out of a horror movie. Room cleaning scored 3/10. The floor was dirty and dusty, and the trash in the bathroom wasn't removed. You can never reach staff by phone. They never removed empty water bottles, and you don't even get one fresh bottle of water per day! The location is great. It's next to the metro and buses, and almost all attractions are within walking distance. But of course, the metro station smells when you step out of the hotel door. I didn't order breakfast, but about 17 Euros / 6000 Fr. per person for a few slices of cheese and sausage is so expensive. So, at about 96 euros per night, it's way too expensive for this hotel... Never again!!!

The location is fantastic, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Subway, tram, and bus stops are right outside the door. Just a few dozen meters to the right, there's a Chinese fast-food place, and diagonally opposite to the left, you'll find a noodle shop. The facilities are great, and the service is excellent.

A century-old landmark, offering vintage luxury. It's located in a bustling area with convenient transportation; the airport shuttle has a stop right outside, and Metro Line 2 and several bus routes are easily accessible. The facilities are a bit old, and housekeeping sometimes misses things. Still, it offers good value for money.

Aside from the historic building and outdated facilities, it's actually quite good. We booked a twin room this time, which was spacious and had a wardrobe with seven or eight hangers, plus four more hooks on the wall – something you don't usually see, so no worries about where to put your clothes. The door uses a key card instead of a traditional key. There are two very vintage-style elevators. Breakfast was good and plentiful, though the selection didn't change daily. The location is right next to the Astoria metro station (M2 line), but there are no escalators, so you have to climb stairs. Tram lines 47 and 49 are also nearby. For the airport, you'll need to go to the previous stop, Deak Ferenc ter, to catch the 100E bus. The ticket costs 2500 HUF. It's about a 400-meter walk from the hotel, which takes about 10 minutes with luggage and thankfully, there are no gravel paths.
