Mercure Budapest Castle Hill

We booked a suite and didn't have to wait for the key; we checked in immediately upon arrival. We were given a room with a view of the train station. The room was spacious and clean. The carpeted floor made the room even cozier. It was cleaned daily, and towels were changed every day, with bed linens changed on the third day. The room had a fridge, kettle, and hairdryer. Tea, coffee, sugar, and creamer were replenished daily. The metro and Fisherman's Bastion are within walking distance. A big plus for me was the absence of noise from Pest's weekend nightlife. The only downside was the difficulty in finding a restaurant after 9 PM. Overall, the hotel is wonderful.

Extremely dissatisfied with the room check-in experience. First off, the room lighting was very dim. Turns out one of the lights was broken, and we had to wait half an hour for someone to come and fix it. Then the bedsheets were quite dirty. Additionally, we asked housekeeping for two extra towels and ended up waiting over two hours for them.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied. It's close to the train station, but the soundproofing of the windows is exceptionally good.

It was pretty decent, not bad. Right next to Fisherman's Bastion. Transportation is convenient with the metro station nearby. It was clean and quiet. Overall, I think it was quite good. Keep up the good service. It's a pretty good hotel.

Great location, and the hotel has a very modern, youthful vibe. The front desk staff were also very welcoming. Budapest, in general, seems much more friendly towards Chinese people than Austria. David, the long-haired gentleman at the front desk, was especially genuine and helpful – a big thumbs up to him! However, petty theft is a serious problem in all European cities, so even at the hotel, you need to be careful about your belongings! Always keep your valuables in the safe!

I stayed at this hotel for two days right after my flight landed. Then, after exploring a bit, I switched to another hotel for a few days before leaving, which gave me a strong basis for comparison. Let's start with safety. Having experienced both, I can objectively tell all travelers that the area where this hotel is located is very safe—much safer than the luxury hotel areas in certain parts of Pest. Even if you're walking alone at 8 or 9 PM, and it seems quiet with few people around, it still feels very secure. This location is relatively close to Castle Hill and Fisherman's Bastion. I say 'relatively' because walking there still takes a good while. I have two experiences to share: first, after dropping off my luggage, I walked from the hotel to the Museum of Fine Arts. It was quite a trek to reach the three-tiered escalator. The second time, I watched the sunset at Fisherman's Bastion and it was almost 8 PM when I finished, so I walked all the way back to the hotel. As other reviews mention, there's a small path with stairs up the hill that leads directly to Fisherman's Bastion, but that walk also takes quite a bit of time. Exercise caution and choose wisely; if you have luggage, I wouldn't recommend walking—just take a bus instead. There's a supermarket right behind the hotel. If you're coming from the metro, you'll definitely spot it, which is quite convenient. As for the room and bathroom facilities, I'd say they're both good—standard hotel quality, nothing exceptional but perfectly fine. However, the building itself shares an entrance with another hotel, and they occupy different floors within the same building. This is something guests might need to get used to, as when I first arrived at the entrance, I actually doubted whether it was the hotel I booked. It seems to be quite popular with international tour groups; there were two Korean groups staying during my visit.

Clean and hygienic, with convenient transportation. It's very close to Fisherman's Bastion.
