Mercure Budapest City Center

This hotel is located in a pedestrian street, very close to Deak metro station and both M1 and M3 lines, which is incredibly convenient! It's also very near the river, and you can easily walk to the Chain Bridge. There are supermarkets nearby, and right downstairs you'll find McDonald's, KFC, and various other restaurants. The hotel has two entrances: one on the pedestrian street, and another facing a different road. The hotel can arrange a taxi to the airport for you, and the car will pick you up at this second entrance. We booked for two adults and one child, and the hotel had already set up an extra small bed for us. The room size was quite generous, it had a kettle, and the air conditioning worked well. Although the breakfast was pretty much the same every day, it was sufficient, and on weekends it's served until 11 am. They provide complimentary bottled water daily, and there's a self-service water dispenser in the lobby for refills. Excellent value for money, highly recommended!

This is a chain hotel, found all over the world, and the Budapest location is quite large compared to others in Europe. The hotel's location depends on personal preference. It's situated on a bustling commercial pedestrian street with many shops and restaurants, vibrant from 10 AM until midnight. Most attractions (except for the thermal baths) are about a 10-minute walk away. The breakfast was decent and offered a good variety. The downside of this hotel is that it's a bit far from public transportation and it's quite noisy. You enter directly into a bar, and the front desk, which consists of three simple tables, is past that. Around 11:40 PM, someone started banging loudly on my door, waking me up. I asked who it was and why they were knocking, but they didn't answer, just kept banging. It was probably a drunk person. I called the front desk, and it took a while for someone to pick up. When they finally did, I explained that someone was knocking on my door and I didn't know who it was, asking them to come check. The staff member said they didn't know who it was either and then dismissed my concern. Luckily, the person eventually left. This kind of service attitude is unacceptable, especially given the potential safety issue. I definitely won't be staying at this hotel again on my next trip to Budapest.

The room itself is pretty good, with a comfortable sense of space, plenty of outlets, and a standard modern style. However, many areas seem poorly maintained. For example, the room door is hard to close, and the shower door in the bathroom doesn't close properly, so the bathroom floor always gets wet. The bathroom space is also too small.

This hotel is located in the heart of the city center, making it very convenient for dining and getting around. It's also close to public transportation like buses and subways. It's a four-star hotel that offers good value for money. The rooms and breakfast were both excellent. Highly recommended!
