The Legends hotel states that they have a bar and sub terrain night club in the basement, what they don’t state is :- a, That the night club carries on until 4:00 am and that the ear plugs provided are ineffective. b, That if you have a so called city view you can only see the rear of the adjacent properties. c, You can’t have the windows open for long because of the deafening noise coming from the air conditioning units on the lower roof and the noise from the extractor chimney are the equivalent to booking accommodation in a machine shop. d, Empty bottles cascading into the wheelie bin through the small hours of the morning. When we complained about this we were told that staff were not supposed to empty bottles before 8:00. The last time we heard bottles was 5:30. e, Dirty mouldy bathroom. Dust all over the radiator that dirtied the towels when placed on it. f, Misrepresentation of rooms size in the hotel description. Ours was definitely not the same as the one pictured. g, Being fobbed off by the hotel staff when we asked to see anyone of authority so we could get reimbursed, and who would only be available when we were long gone. So as you can see from our experience and since getting home and reviewing the lower scores left by previous travellers we are not the only couple to have had a less than pleasant experience at the Legends hotel

There is breakfast, but it is very simple, things are less than the average British hotel, and the price is not cheap, it costs 12 pounds a person. The room is still quite large and belongs to the simple and comfortable one. Walk to the beach for about 25 minutes and there are many bars nearby. I lived on Saturday, so it was very noisy at night. The parking lot is small and has to be booked.

The hotel room is not big, and the soundproofing is not good at night, so it will be noisy, but the location is good, close to the seaside, close to the bus station, and you can go directly to Baiya! The hotel is run by two father and son, which is very interesting.

My second stay at Selina with my partner, last valentines it was great but this time we had our anniversary. They had a better room available so upgraded us to a seafront room.
But the room was absolutely freezing and the radiator was on a timer so it was off when we got back to the room around 11pm onward. The windows were really drafty and loud from the wind and rain outside and the duvet was thin.
Pretty room and nice staff but pity about the stay. Not the best for a winter anniversary trip.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at the Kings. We enjoyed every minute. The staff were all friendly, helpful and did everything to make our stay just perfect. Our double room was large,beautifully clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice and in a delightful bright breakfast room. The Kings is ideally located on the seafront. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff at the Kings Hotel.

The hotel is fine. Clean very near the train station and not to far of a walk to the sea front about 10/15 minutes so very walkable the only thing to be aware of is that they have 2 hotels with the other one being on the sea front so it just depends which location is better suited for your individual stay.

Prior communication with the Hotel was easy and Marta was great as we had a couple of requests. When we checked in, Marta greeted us very warmly. We had a room with a balcony and the views of the sea were great and the room was very nicely decorated and a very comfortable bed. We had a meal at the hotel in the restaurant and it was delicious and the service was very professional. Breakfast time was a bit busy and the layout of the buffet is a bit squeezed but overall is good. We enjoyed our stay and would visit again

Hotel is clean and well kept overall but quilt at end of bed was visibly stained and appeared dirty so did not use it. Room is comfortable with everything you need and staff are attentive and super helpful. Had problems with room key - if anywhere near your phone, won’t work. No shop to purchase snacks, food, drink, but drinks, ice, and limited menu available from bar for a good part of the day - until 2:00. If beyond that, you have to go out or have food delivered. Breakfast is offered though. Great location, no AC, but room comfortable and fan provided. This hotel is better and much less expensive than other four-star hotels in Brighton and Hove. Recommend for the price paid.

We have just returned from a wonderful adventure at Truleigh Hill. We hired a Safari tent and loved it. The tents are well equipped with lighting, a log burner (with a starter pack) gas hob, kettle, and basic cutlery. Beds are very comfy and the duvet lovely and plump and kept us warm even on a chilly night. On our stay we endured a very windy night, and the tent itself was a bit flappy so pack the earplugs if you are not a deep sleeper. Check in was easy at 5pm and we were shown to our tent and everything explained. We ate in the eating area and dinner was delicious and very reasonably priced. The showers and toilets were basic but clean and tidy. We used the youth hostel as a base to visit Worthing and Brighton but we would definitely return to explore more of the South Downs. It’s a beautiful little gem of a place and you won’t be disappointed by the views. Thank you to all who helped make us have a fantastic little breakaway.

GGuest UserThe hotel lives up to its name it’s “Grand” and has retained its charm. Our room on the 5th floor was very large well furnished, great amenities and clean with a wonderful sea view. Thank you to the amazing staff on concierge desk, reception, breakfast crew and housekeeping who were always friendly efficient and helpful, it was a delightful six days. We will definitely return.

GGuest UserThe hotel location is amazing - just 2 minutes from the station (if that) and a 10 minute stroll to the beach. The Hotel was exceptionally clean with brilliant welcoming staff. As other have mentioned, the only negative is that the breakfast choices were very limited. Small single portion omelettes, tinned tomatoes and sausages, as well as cereals etc. However - don't let this distract you. Loved the additional facilities of the hotel (washing machines, the Den) etc. The room was silent - no noise from anywhere. Good powerful but quiet air con.

GGuest UserStayed here for a conference and wasn’t overly impressed. I appreciate they are going through a refit but there was an unacceptable amount of disruption. Long wait at reception to check in. Long queue and only 2 receptionists. Workmen noise during breakout sessions of the conference meant it was difficult to hear speakers. Main lifts out of action and signposting from small lifts to rooms was very poor and I struggled to find my room. Room smelled strongly of paint and had to open window as air con unit didn’t appear to be wired in. Came back after being at dinner to find my towels had been replaced (surprised but thank you) but my facecloth had been removed (it was my own one) and I had nothing to wash my face with. But probably worst of all was being woken by workmen shouting right outside my window at 6.45am. Not what I wanted after a late night. I’m just glad I wasn’t paying for it!

GGuest UserAfter travelling for 14hrs, my pregnant daughter and I were super excited to be staying in the hotel and were particularly looking forward to a swim in the hotels pool. We arrived early and there was an issue with our booking; seemingly it had been cancelled somehow. The staff were patient and helpful & offered us another room, the same size and price. They also let us access the room early. As we walked through the hotel we we're a bit surprised that it didn't quite match the grandeur in the photos. However, we were desperate to offload our luggage and pop into town to get some essentials. Upon entering our room we were shocked! The room was extremely outdated, dusty and the fixtures and fittings weren't in the heat of repair. We had specifically booked a sea view room, as were coastal girls and wanted to enjoy the view. The windows were filthy and our view was stilted just dirt and grime. Being coastal, we do appreciate the effects of the salt from the sea on the windows, but - this was beyond what would be reasonably expected. We decided to weather it as we were both too tired and thought things might seem brighter after a swim. Sadly, this wasn't to be. The pool - although advertised as 'heated' - was freezing and we couldn't manage very long. This was so disappointing as we had been so looking forward to using the pool and winding down. We headed back up to the room to warm up and try to make the best of the situation. Again, this didn't happen. The room was freezing, with no heating accessible to turn up. My daughter (22 weeks pregnant) had chattering teeth and it was all just too much. We packed up and headed down to the reception to check out. We'd spent less than 2 hours in the hotel! We explained the issues to reception who were, to their credit, understanding. They did offer us the use of another, upgraded room but given the state of the room we had just vacated we didn't think it worth risking another shot. We had our refund processed, thanked the staff and left. The staff, as a whole, were faultless - especially a lady who I think was relatively new to the role. The Manager assured us that the hotel is going to be undergoing a refit but that wasn't much help to us at that time. It's such a shame that the hotel is so substandard! It's a beautiful shell, fantastic location and offers such amazing views. But, our experience means we will refrain from ever visiting the hotel again, and couldn't ever recommend it. For £250 for one night it's just not ok.

GGuest UserWe were due to stay here on the 12th August 2022 for 2 nights but just less than 48 hours before we had to rush our son into hospital due to appendicitis! I tried to cancel the room and get our money back but it was too late and I just thought in the scheme of things I was happy that we had taken my son into hospital just in time and he had his operation Saturday morning. I spent 4 days in hospital devastated for my son but also that he missed his holiday too. I thought I’d try and email the owner and appeal to them regarding how unfortunate we were that due to no fault of our own that we’d have to lose our money. Mark could not have been more accommodating. He responded to my messages/emails and helped me receive a refund through the booking agent. If you’re looking for a reliable, dependable and customer focused place to stay - then Ei8ht Brighton is a fantastic place to start.

GGuest UserUnusually I stayed twice in a month. The first visit being my daughters wedding and the second to attend a concert at the Brighton Centre. Both very nice stays. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating the rooms are well equipped and very clear although a bit tired and would benefit from a bit of a makeover but this is a very old hotel. The beds were very comfy . There is a lot of noise from the outside which did go on till the early hours but this is Brighton and a sea front hotel so I wasn’t worried by this. You pay a price which is well worth it because of the location. The singers in the bar were very good and the breakfast was amazing I’d recommend this hotel. Normally I stay with family in the area but if I ever need to stay in Brighton I would have no hesitation in studying here again

GGuest UserBooked a deluxe double room for £127.00 for a night. Arrived to find we had to pay £50 (damage) deposit before we could get in. First time ever! The location didnt have a reception but a door entry system. Which went to a mobile phone with a full mailbox! Stood outside in the cold for 45 minutes. Finally found someone who worked in the spa. They tried to help but would not give contact numbers. Got in to the property and was given the key box number which was on the room door!! Room was cold, damp, small with a bunk bed arrangement. Light was painted over and falling out of the ceiling, Wardrobe was a metal cabinet found in a workshop! Radiator was not working and an electric substitue was in the room but didnt look safe. The power socket which the tele was supposed tobe plugged into was falling out of the wall. There was a fake nail on the bed. The shower room had a smell and although relatively clean had staining in the shower. We finally got a number for one of the hotels other locations in Brighton from a website. The receptionist was friendly. We explained the issue that the room was not as advertised or paid for. They explained that the computor system was to fault!!! No other rooms were available and suggested contacting another hotel in the Brighton area which they sent us the details for. We had to pay a premium rate well above our origonal book for the second hotel. The receptionist for Otto Breeze did refund out £50damage deposit on the day and the staff at the spa were helpful (although not allowed to supply information). We received a refund for the total amount of £127.00 but this was a stressful experience.
