Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa

staff amazing! breakfast amazing! Cocktails amazing! Gardens amazing! However the rooms completely disappointing! I am not sure how this hotel can be considering luxury? Its interior is worn and requires updating . We stayed in the Forrest suite room 120. Nothing like the photos . The mattress sunk inwards when we slept, my legs were higher than by body when laying down, that’s how bad the mattress was . The roll out bed which I was told had a proper matress sunk inwards. PowerPoints did not work . Our electric towel rail, the cord was taped with duck tape. The sofa and arm chairs was so old and worn , with chipping timber frames’ skiriting boards and paint was chipping. Lighting was so dim No air conditioning and it was a 30 degree weekend . I understand the website states rooms would not have the same view, but a view of bush and shrubs is not a garden view. The shutters in the room is old and some were broken The hall ways are so worn and floor boards creaked Room service menu is on an A4 paper with 8 selection of meals Spa bath tub which was also a shower was slippery to stand on Couldn’t order drinks or food at the pool This place is falling apart, thankfully friendly staff and beautiful garden (which isn’t as big as the photos) Disappointed
Dormie House

I am a planning fool, that way you guard against disappointment and sleeping in the car overnight. My husband however is non planner, with a how bad can it be, how crowded will it get mid week, perspective. Thanks to this take on the world we ended up at Dormie Lodge because it was getting dark and there was an old sign which pointed us there. This place is interesting, with a degree of charm and a need for a major overhaul. My guess is it’s late 20s/ v early 30s.It is rundown but functioning. and in places, quite nice. Go to Peppers if you want a sexy, luxury weekend, not here. This is as one reviewer writes, for golfing enthusiasts. We had a large room with 2 beds, one queen, one single, not good quality. The bathroom was a nasty little 1970s shoe in which was in need of bleach. Note it was stained not dirty. The hotel was v clean. There was the smallest, tiniest TV which I have seen since the 1970s. The room overlooked the car park which in the morning had all the noise of golf carts and a fine view of workmen spitting into the bushes. The room was glacial and this was in February, however the night manager brought us 2 little fan heaters as heating was off and that was fine. This all set us back $A175 which astounded me. So, that’s the bad stuff. The good stuff was the lounge. Nicely done with faux period leather chairs. But what I liked best was the 1970s extension where the the dining room and bar were housed. One side was packed out with golfers, the other virtually empty. We went there and drank $8 wine and watched the sun set over the gardens and golf links. What I also liked was the inside staff. Everyone of them was exceptionally nice and unfailingly helpful. We didn’t eat there. Food was about $40 a main course. It did look v nice. Be aware that upstairs has no lift and the stairs are quite steep. Renovations are ongoing but regrettably they are not restorations of beautiful period features. The instead involve lots of white paint and plastic bathroom suites.
Grand Country Lodge Motel

The new management run the motel exactly to the very high standard that was set in place by the previous management. All the hard working cleaning staff seem to be there, with the room spotlessly cleaned. Many thanks to Will and Kate for all their hospitality it was greatly appreciated. There is nothing I could wish for as the Grand Country Motel ticks all the boxes!

we were celebrating a special occasion and book their grand suite room, which was absolutely beautiful, we arrived to a lovely message wishing us and a bottle of champagne which was well received, we also had dinner at the restaurant and the food was amazing, the staff are very friendly, we will be back again, especially to the restaurant
Peppers Manor House

We loved the beautiful old manor house and its gardens. Although it was a wet and cold January, the place’s charm made up for the weather. We enjoyed nice, relaxing, strolls around the gardens. Watching the rabbits lording over the gardens and spotting the odd kangaroo around the golf course was delightful. The manor itself was gorgeous, with comfortable areas to sit by the fire, looking out at the gardens. The Garden Wing Deluxe room was comfortable and very clean. The beds were just right. The only negative was the pillows offered - they were too soft and too hard, no happy medium. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good service at the bar and restaurant. Peppers is located close to surrounding areas like Bowral, Moss Vale, Mittagong, Exeter, Berrima, Burradoo and Bundanoon. Great to go exploring the attractions and unique shops these places had to offer. There were also some good places around to eat. Will definitely come back, to enjoy it in better weather.
Park Proxi Gibraltar Bowral

Firstly, no phone in our room (for contact with reception). I had to call from my mobile and after asking, they were going to send a phone up to us - it never arrived. I asked if there was any room service, to be told no! I noticed there were dirty plates of food left outside doorways in the corridor - they were there for the whole of our stay - 2 days - complete with flies. Upon checkin, we agreed that we didnt need housekeeping for our 2 day stay but were informed that we would get fresh towels - these never turned up. The Bar fridge is ridiculously small. Told there was a mini bar - but no there wasnt. The floors in our room clearly had not been vacuumed, with bits of rubbish and crumbs still there. After paying over $700 for two nights, we were certainly left wondering about value for money. We were there for our son's wedding so were very excited to spend time with family. Unfortunately we left feeling very, very disappointed with the accommodation.
