Having read some of the bad reviews, I notice they are not mostly outdated. I came back from the hotel on Sunday 15th Jan 23. The hotel is one of the original hotels in Borovets, it has a lot of character and yes, it is old. However, it very clean and the cleaners are cleaning all day. My room was hot, maybe a little warm at times and the bathroom was spotless and modern. The shower was hot every time, morning or evening. I have stayed in many hotels where the shower rarely gets hot in ‘peak’ times. The bed was comfortable and the room had a TV. Towels were replaced daily. I was nowhere near the lobby and had full signal WiFI that run, my phone, IPad and Laptop with ease, even streaming BBC iPlayer. I had my Chromecast plugged into the TV and streamed with very little problems. Food was outstanding, a big choice of buffet all you can eat. Breakfast was always traditional but always a full set of pastries and sweets! Evening meal was very tasty, hot and 2 daily soups. I ate there in a T Shirt as they hall was always warm with outside temperatures of -5c. Staff were very helpful, chatty, friendly and efficient and did anything that I asked. Buy you bottle water from the bar before you go out for the day it is much cheaper than up town. Location is about 10-15 mins walk (depending on conditions and speed of walking) and it is uphill. I found this useful as it got my leg muscles working before hitting the slopes. If it is cold enough, you walk past the frozen waterfall! Would I go back there again? Yes. The cost of a half board versus a hotel near the resort was hundreds of pounds cheaper and bar drinks were much cheaper. Just awaiting flight prices to be announced and I will be booking again.

We came back from our ski holiday two days ago. The hotel was lovely, friendly staff, great food and service. The reviews we have read about the hotel were pretty bad but had nothing to do with what we saw. We highly recommend this place. Thank you chef Shtery!

Great little hotel on the edge of Borovets only 10 min walk to main town and slopes. Hotel offer free shuttle if needed. Rooms are small and basic but that's Bulgaria they are clean and have good facilities. Heating could do with being turned down a bit but we just opened the window. Great restaurant nice breakfasts but we didn't eat on an evening as so many great places to eat in the town all cheap and friendly. Hotel offers ski storage if required. Bar and pool table with some arcade games for the kids. Staff are very friendly helpful overall and great little hotel. Would stay again.

Review Overall: - English is an enigma for the staff at Edelweiss Hotel, other than the manager and Nicola from the restaurant (very polite and friendly guy) NO ONE knows any english, so it’s very hard to understand anyone or be understood, not to mention having a conversation. From my knowledge, in order to be accredited as a 3star hotel, more than 50% of staff has to speak english. This is not the case at Edelweiss Hotel - They were constantly threatning to call the police when you’re in an argument with them, instead of trying to solve the issue, they just turn around and leave - On check in: no actual useful information given regarding the hotel’s wanna be services that they have available such as the pool table, the shuttle (pick up/drop off points and timetable) or the sauna. The only thing they said was: “this no possible”. We encountered issues with the luggage room and with the shuttle to the gondola, which although suposedly available, upon our arrival, it was NOT. In the end the receptionist called 2 taxis which we had to pay… on our way back, we had issues finding the shuttle bus as we were not provided with the right logistic information. When we called the reception to ask for help, instead of trying to guide us, they hang up the phone, didn’t pick it up when we rang again, did not explain properly where the meeting point was and have been ignoring us saying that the driver is there and then contradicting themselves saying that the driver should come in 5, 10 and then 15 minutes. We ended up waiting for 1 hour. - On check out: they started shouting at us when we were leaving our suitcases at the cars, thinking we would just be leaving without paying the additional things (water, pool table) we had during our stay. I mean, really?!?. Also, they told us other guests complained about us, however this is a lie for 2 reasons: 1. The hotel staff doesn’t understand English so it would have been impossible for them to understand the guests and 2. The majority of the guests were romanian, and they actually cheered us when we were arguing with the hotel staff, saying they’ve also been treated poorly and they were happy someone was actually taking attitude. Rooms: - There are water pipes in the rooms that have a constant noise, it was very loud and uncomfortable to have a non-stop noise right next to your bed, in your head and ear at all times - Very old fashioned furniture, dirty shower cabin curtains - Thin walls, you can hear everyone everywhere around you - In the bathrooms, there is EITHER cold or hot water, there’s no in between, and the hot water is white for some reason. Moreover, the smell in the bathrooms is gross and makes you sick and the light is flickering and almost explodes everytime one turns on the bathroom light - Very poor room service: they have no hospitality knowledge or skills, they do not change the towels, they just fold them which is neither hygienic nor proper. They knock ******ally on the doors when they come s

Just returned from a lovely stay at Edelweiss after staying here with 2 friends. Can't complain at all really, food was lovely, staff pleasant, rooms were clean and tidy (only thing our bathroom did have quite a bad drain smell!) and free shuttle buses to the town/slopes. With the shuttle bus, there is a sign up sheet on the reception dusk which is useful to know as only 8 people per time slot. But walking to the town is only 10 minutes! Would happily return and stay again. If you need a hairdryer, make sure to pack one as none in the bathrooms or on site.

We really enjoyed our stay. The decor might be a bit dated, but the staff were super friendly and helpful. The buffet was really varied and rather delicious. Our room was rather hot (had to open the window at night) but definitely pleasant given it was freezing cold outside. There was a free shuttle bus to the ski lifts (probs about 8-9 min) but it we also chose to walk on a few occasions, which only took us about 15 min. Overall, we're really happy with our stay - it was great value for the price and we would definitely come back.

Great parts: My partner and I spent 4 nights in Edelweiss Hotel and had a great time there. We travelled there from the airport using their travel agency partner Balkan PMS (highly recommended). The highlight was having free breakfast and dinner included in the price! This is a buffet with plenty of traditional choices, ranging from healthy salads to meat and A LOT OF desserts. It makes the whole experience easier and cheaper, especially given prices in some of the Borovets restaurants have risen quite substantially this year. There is a free shuttle to the centre that goes at 8:15, 9:15 and 10:15, and returns every 10 mins between 16:00 and 17:00 to the hotel. If walking, it will only take you 20 mins! There's also a sauna and a gym. The sauna is great after a long day of skiing! We would definitely stay back here if we were to go back to Borovets. To be improved : We liked most of the hotel. There are only two things that I would like to highlight from the negative side: 1) the walls are a bit thin, which means you can basically hear people from other rooms as if they were right outside your door. This was not a problem the first 3 nights, but more of an issue on the last day when it was busier; 2) they keep turning the sauna off and saying it's not working, so you need to ask them to turn it on every time.

This is a really good value hotel. Yes it is dated but it is clean, warm, constant hot showers, a shuttle to the ski area if you do not want to walk, boot room and the staff are wonderful. This was our first stay in Borovets and we paid just over £50 per night in February half term. It was an absolute bargain. The hotel is half board and the quality of the evening meal buffet is exceptional for the price- home style dishes alongside a salad bar and dessert table. Considering the restaurants in Borovets are mostly poor quality and high price for Bulgaria, this really is the selling point of this hotel. Drinks are also very reasonable. The location is a bit out of town but you can walk it in 15 minutes. When in ski boots there is a shuttle (Emil the driver is lovely). If you want to have use of a pool/spa etc we just paid to use the facilities at the Samakov and Rila hotels.

First time in Borovets and got an amazing price considering we were staying over February half-term on half-board basis. The price reflects that the hotel is dated but it was clean, comfortable and warm. It has what you need, comfy beds, hot showers, friendly staff and also a shuttle to the ski area (it is slightly out of town but can be walked). The location in the forest is lovely. The thing that makes this hotel such amazing value is the food. We have stayed in 5* hotels in Bansko before and would never book half-board but Borovets restaurants are very medicore and over priced. The chef in this hotel produces good quality, homestyle food every night and it was wonderful to just stay in and eat. Also, drinks from the bar are very well priced. A wonderful stay- we paid to use the spa at the Samakov and Rila so the lack of pool etc was not an issue.
