Crown Paradise Golden All Inclusive Resort - Adults Only
3.6/5103 Reviews
This is an affordable all-inclusive place to stay with a nice beach for swimming and sitting on the sand. There isn't much shade but you can rent a beach umbrella and chairs. The lobby and buffet are open air so it can get really hot during the warmer months. The food was safe, but unremarkable. There was a good variety of choices everyday and each night at the buffet had a theme, such as Mexican, Seafood night and BBQ to name three. We were there at the beginning of October and the weather was still quite hot and the Air Conditioning in the inside restaurants was not quite strong enough to cool the place down, but the servers were excellent. I was worried before arriving that the hotel would be noisy at night, but they have a night club for the resort across the street for all of the late night partiers making the hotel a quiet place to rest and sleep. However, one of the elevators must have been over something very stinky because most of the time, there was a smell of sewer for a lot of our rides. It was the elevator that was for the rooms on the beach front side of the hotel that went up to the 7th floor. The other elevator in that section only went up to the 6th floor. The rooms were nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. We were on a top floor with roof exposure so our room was never able to cool down below 77 degrees despite the hotel's efforts to fix the AC so I had difficulty sleeping. I understand the lower rooms were nice and cool for sleeping. The maid did a great job keeping our room clean! This is a great place to stay for those who like a busy active beach area. It is centrally located which makes it easy to go into town or access tours. The hotel staff was great. If you want a more relaxing, quieter beach and pool, you will probably need to go elsewhere.
Los Arcos Suites

Excellent location- across from the beach in the centre of town. Beds were firm, with good bedding and pillows. We had a spacious room with a balcony, king size bed over looking the pool - which I highly recommend. There is building work outside the hotel so avoid the rooms overlooking the road. We were told we could not use the main hotel swimming pool ( but we did anyway and no one cared) although they did have security guards hovering about. This hotel does not have a bar, which is fine for us, there was no coffee available most mornings (there was meant to be) which was a bit annoying but that was the only thing to complain about! Staff were friendly although some of the reception staff had poor English so best to have an app on your phone!

Beautiful property and hotel staff are warm, friendly, and go out of their way to serve you and accommodate any request. We moved rooms during our stay and the second room had very stiff, old mattresses. The first room had a very nice memory foam mattress. There’s also a sign in the bathrooms that a $20 fee applies for stained towels. This seems to be an ongoing issue for the hotel, and given that women wear foundation, eyeliner, mascara, etc. perhaps they should provide black face cloths instead of charging additional fees. That said, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and plan to do so in the future.
Casa Doña Susana

Earlier this year, I had a lovely stay at Hotel Casa Dona Susana and gave the hotel a nice review on TripAdvisor. Based on that experience, when I was going to be in Puerto Vallarta for one night in July, I booked using Booking.com. I arrived at the hotel and checked in. Then the man who checked me in excused himself. A few minutes later a woman came to the front desk and told me the hotel was sold out (I had already checked in). She said they would put me in Playa Los Arcos across the street, in a large room with a King bed. She then had me check in a second time. After asking a couple of times why my reservation had been accepted when they were sold out, she admitted they knew that they never had a room for me in Hotel Casa Dona Susana and had always planned on putting me in one of their other hotels. Playa Los Arcos is much larger than Hotel Casa Dona Susana and is geared to families. The pool was filled with kids and music was blaring all afternoon. The noise only stopped at 10 p.m. when it started raining. So much for relaxing stay. My room was large but the furniture was tacky (faux tiffany lamp) instead of charming. Would it have been too much to have comped me either breakfast or a drink for the bait and switch?

Excellent service and location !!!
Vamar Vallarta Marina & Beach Resort
3.3/5100 Reviews
This was our second visit to Vamar. Our main reason for returning to Vamar was price. On our previous visit we had a room with a balcony and while we enjoyed the balcony we found the room to be very dark with areas we considered to be dead spaces. Fast forward to this trip. Vamar fit the bill for a relatively economical priced trip, meaning it had to be reasonable in price to eat out most meals and provide a comfortable clean place to sleep. Our room was clean and while lacking in balcony space was bright and quiet. We purchased a cooler from Kiosko along with ice and boom we had a refrigerator. We did enjoy one lunch beachside and found the waitstaff attentive. On the Marina side we enjoyed a few late lunches and again found all the waitstaff to be very attentive and accommodating. We enjoy a glass or two or three of white wine and we never found our glasses to be empty for long. We appreciated again the availability of self service coffee at the Lobby Bar and the baked goods also provided. We enjoyed our ”happy hours” and while seating was not always available in the bar area, we managed to find seating not too far away. Puerto Vallarta in general has so many great restaurants and the Marina is no exception. If you find it in your budget to eat off property and are looking for a smaller hotel than give Vamar a try.
