The Residence Bintan

I have celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary at this hotel. Overall I had a good and enjoyable experience staying here. Villa are spacious, clean and dinning experience also good with generous portion at The Dining room. With a good room decorated and complimentary cake for my anniversary we are really appreciating all the good gesture and preparation. The only down side is the hotel location are very far away from the ferry terminal which required 1 hour and 30mins journey and room lighting not sufficient and make the room too dimmed. And there were no minimart or convenient store in the hotel. Suggest to open a minimart to supply more snacks and gift shop selling the hotel souvenirs included the essentials oil shampoo.

"Great Resort, Great Service" Okay first thing, yes, it is far. Like 1.5 hours from BBT ferry terminal. But shared transport is provided (with a cold towel, cookie and water bottle), so honestly it's fine. You just sit back and by the time you arrive you've mentally switched off from everything anyway. Check-in was really smooth. No queue at the counter. While you sit down at the lobby, a welcome drink and cold towel is provided together with the check-in formalities. That already felt different. And the staff throughout the stay were just... on it. I genuinely didn't need to call for anything. Whatever I expected to find in the room, it was there. Buggy service is available until 11 pm, and is available promptly the moment you call them. The suite itself was excellent. Huge outdoor balcony with two sets of sitting area. A hammock is also provided to relax in a lazy afternoon. Inside the room, a solid wood bed frame, with a comfortable mattress and clean sheets. They give you both hard and soft pillows which I always appreciate. A large work table/chair is behind the bed. It also includes fast charging ports (nice touch). TV is equipped with Google TV kind of device with familiar remote. Room was well stocked with four water bottles, wine and drink glasses, coffee/tea cups, minibar with most common drinks stacked (not complimentary). Small thing but they forgot spoons for the coffee/tea. Didn't ruin anything but I noticed. The bathroom was big and clean with his/hers sink. All necessary amenities are of good quality. However, the shower area is a bit cramped as it is next to the bathtub. As such it wets the entire area. Even if you put floor towel, it eventually gets drenched too. Breakfast was great. Open air setting with nice spread - good fresh fruits, salads, local dishes, breads, bread spreads, coffee/tea together with kopi and teh as well. Dinner was also delicious with prompt room service. Only thing is the kitchen stops at 9:30pm which is a bit early, especially when you are on vacation. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing if you're a late eater like me. Most of the info is shared via WhatsApp- shuttle times, checkout info, all sent through without me having to chase anyone. Simple but effective. Each villa is provided with two bikes (his and hers) which was fun, especially since the area is quite spread out. Though something could be improved: The pool is honestly too small. Cannot accommodate even 25% of guests. And the main beach is very small and with only two chairs. That's it. For a place sitting right on the water, I expected more there. Coffee pods in the room were really bad. Everything else in the room was good quality so this just stood out. Swap the pods, it's an easy fix. I informed them in advance that we are celebrating our wedding anniversary. But it was completely ignored. Forget about flowers, not even a little card. That genuinely upset me. It's the kind of thing that would've made the stay really special and they just dropped the ball completely. Despite that, I'd still recommend it. The food is solid, the service is good, the room is comfortable and it's a genuinely peaceful place to be. And if you're celebrating something, maybe follow up more than once to make sure they actually action it.

Had a bonding wonderful trip with my daughter. All staffs are so friendly and helpful. They make us feel like princesses. My daughter would like to go back again.

My wife and I had a 2 nights stay at the resort, we loved our stay. The room is spacious and bed is very comfortable. The amenities in the hotel is good. We love the food especially. The breakfast has quite a wide variety of selections and the other restaurants are very good. It was a very good trip for my wife and I and we saw many families with kids.

Room was amazing. Managed to purchase an upgrade to the Seaview Villa and it was so spacious. Comfy kingbed, Huge bathtub and a pooldeck! Only issue with the room was the toilet starting to smell especially after flushing or at night after returning to the room. The resort provided complimentary transport to and from the ferry terminal so that made things very convenient. Within the resort itself, we had 2 bicycles to use or you could call for the buggy to ferry you around places. The service and staff were impeccable, they truly made you feel like very special guests! Would highly recommend the spa, the massages were heavenly. Would definitely come again and experience more at this resort.

We had a wonderful stay at The Residence Bintan. A special thank you to Mustika for a complimentary room upgrade from the front office team. The resort was beautiful and relaxing, and the team was warm and attentive throughout. The excellent service and for making our stay even more memorable. We would definitely love to return again!

We chose The Residence Bintan for a birthday celebration. The kind of trip where you're willing to pay a premium precisely because you want things to go right. But the beach, the entire reason to book a beachfront villa smelled. Not just faintly or just on one bad morning. But continuously, throughout our stay, to the point where spending time on the terrace or shoreline was genuinely unbearable. This is a known seasonal condition during the dry months (March–May). The hotel knew. They just don't tell you when you book, or even when you check in. We found out the way guests shouldn't have to: walking toward our villa, luggage in hand, on a birthday trip, when the smell hit us without warning. We had to request the room change ourselves and were moved inland. We want to be clear: the people on the ground were kind and doing their job well. But management's position essentially is: this is nature's fault, not ours, so here are some sandwiches. High tea was the offered compensation for a beachfront downgrade on a birthday trip. We don't say this to be cruel. But this reveals what they think your experience is worth to them once you've already paid. There was no refund. Not even a penny of dining credit. When the difference in room rate per night was more than US$100. Nor any acknowledgment that promising a beachfront villa when the beachfront is seasonally compromised might constitute a mismatch between product and promise. A few other things future guests should know: - The lobby and main dining areas are not air-conditioned. The fans are weak enough to feel aspirational. The only air-conditioned dining environment unlocks at dinner, which is, of course, when the heat has already relented. Someone made this decision and presumably kept their job. - The resort's remoteness means Grab, GoFood, and outside dining are inaccessible, unlike resorts near Lagoi, which have actual options. We don't write reviews like this lightly. But a 5-star property earns that designation in how it treats guests when things go wrong.
