Burgh Islands magic comes not only from the location and the beautiful art deco interiors but from the excellent staff who all want you to have a fabulous experience and they truly succeed in my opinion. From the wonderful greeting from the Concierge, excellent service throughout the restaurants, the guys who pick you up in the cars or sea tractor to take you over to the island ,and not forgetting the wonderful housekeeping team they all contribute to a memorable stay. The food is excellent and delicious, our room was so well appointed and beautifully decorated, the bed was extremely comfortable too. we had such a lovely time and really to be back soon.

We've just spent two magical days at Burgh Island Hotel. Everything about our stay has been fabulous. A really unique experience. Wonderful food, amazing rooms with fabulous views, the tide, the sea tractor, everything is special about Burgh Island Hotel. Also, a huge element element of this is created by the wonderful staff. A big thank you for making our stay so special. It was on our bucket list of places we wanted to go to. If it's on yours, then book it!

The location is stunning and the hotel is a unique art decor gem. Staff were helpful once we had arrived. However the prior to arrival communication was lacking. We telephoned ahead as instructed and said we would be arriving earlier than our booking and hoped to be able to take the famous sea tractor (part of our bucket list day) but were told it would not be running that day as the tide would be out. We also phoned again on the morning of our arrival just to double check. No details were offered that it would be in fact running up until a certain time that day. We were very disappointed to arrive to have just missed the last tractor. The causeway was not fully open at that time as the tide had just turned so we got very wet socks and shoes. The bar had stunning views and art deco detail, helpful staff and lovely cocktails. The afternoon tea venue and standard was generally disappointing. Most patisseries were average and possibly not made on site as they were on cardboard discs - but that was just my impression. The scones were delicious. Sandwiches and tea used very average. Room lacked atmosphere and was generally tired. Glad we went because of its history and link to AC but only half a bucket list ticked.

Nostalgia reigns! We enjoyed our stay in this unique hotel. From our arrival at the car park on the mainland to the tractor ride back, staff were very friendly and welcoming. It is expensive to stay but we could see how the cost of the logistics required to run, maintain staff and hotel impacts the price. We stayed here for our anniversary so it was a special occasion made more special by the nostalgia of the 1930’s for example the music and furnishings . Will we go back? Definitely! Word of warning, when that tide is coming in, it’s not waiting for anyone.

Booked this as a birthday present for my wife. Whole experience from booking, pre-check in communications, arrival and check in and service and attention of all staff were superb. Dining in evening-wear in the ballroom was a brilliant experience and food was magnificent. As a special or rare experience, a stay in this atmospheric hotel with period rooms is very hard to top. Disappointed that the Mermaid Pool was closed during our stay, but a couple of pints of the excellent Jail Ale in the Pilchard Inn, made up for it. Ensure that you book a spot for your return to the mainland on the sea tractor for the whole package.

I didn't know about Burgh Island until two years ago when I started to send groups there, even though I'd watched Evil Under The Sun (Poirot mystery) many times. It's a gem of a place, like walking back into the 1930s. I am a massive Agatha Christie fan, so to know she wrote two books on the island is really special. The service is exemplary as are the staff. I only visited to sample the delicious and beautifully presented afternoon tea, but I would definitely stay at the hotel.

The experience from the initial welcome through to our departure via Sea Tractor was first rate. Excellent food and great service. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.
