The Dorset Golf Hotel

I recently stayed at the Dorset Hotel. Overall, it was an okay experience. The room itself was very small for two people, which made it feel a bit cramped, and it could have been a little cleaner. One thing to be aware of is that reception closes at 5pm, so after that you need to collect your keys from the bar, which isn’t the most convenient. On the positive side, parking was excellent it’s free and you can park anywhere, which was really handy. I also asked about a late checkout, but the hotel said they were fully booked. Standard checkout is 10am, which feels a bit early compared to other places I’ve stayed. Apart from those points, everything else was good and the stay was comfortable enough.

Unfortunately, here for me there was no water pressure. The shower was broken and was being replaced in the morning. Would’ve been nice to be offered even a complimentary drink.

My second time staying here. Checked in easy enough with the accommodation across the road at the lodge. The room had nice décor although the bathroom looked a little tired. I used the onsite gym facilities which did not have a lot of people in and allowed me to use the work stations and benches when I wanted to. The shower was good, the bed very comfy and breakfast across at the clubhouse restaurant was very good. A lovely place to stay.

Paper thin walls. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from the room next door. There were of golfing groups who returned to the hotel very late and very loudly. On the second night the batteries in the exterior door electronic door lock were running low and therefore constantly beeped. We reported this to the bar staff (the only employees we could find) who told us they didn’t have any new batteries. Would I stay here again - nope !!

My husband and i experienced a very pleasant bank Holiday weekend. I would definitely consider using this facility again.

My son and I stayed for one night whilst in the area. We weren’t there for golf but did enjoy the driving range in the morning. The resort is nice, a little tired in places, the gym could do with some new boxing gloves 😂! But all in all very nice stay. The only reason I scored 4 was the bed, we had a twin room in the hotel. My son is 6ft 1 and his feet were hanging over the end of the small bed.

Golf competition stay A fantastic location for any ardent golfer. The practice facilities, the hotel, clubhouse and course all contained within a compact area. The staff were outstanding and very accommodating.The rooms were spotless and quiet. Breakfast was spot on.All in all a top class stay. The bar staff, booking in and reception, golf and catering staff are a credit to the resort.
