Well, this was an experience… 2 Adults, 2 x 16-year-olds and a 13-year-old (2 rooms) – we were looking for a well-located, teen-friendly hotel for our first trip to Benidorm, the water slides sold it to me. I love my research and this hotel had the best location and mix of facilities for all we needed as a family and more, it seemed... I knew when booking from looking at past reviews: 1. There was a hill 2. The food has very varied reviews good and bad. Well, sit tight and let me piece together our experience…To give you an overview of the hotel, I would say it is best described as a Disney-Themed throw-back from the 70’s, combined with a “Cave Escape Room” Theme – we stayed a week and still got lost. The hill on arrival was not as bad as expected but we are relatively fit and had no pushchairs, it is worth considering the age and mobility of your group. Lots of stairs to enter the property, although there is a lift to reception. At this point, the lifts are well worth a mention… There are two condemned lifts opposite reception, yes condemned, but still very much on show and not covered up, perhaps it was a “Tower of Terror” MGM Studios shout out? By the end of the week there was red and white warning tape placed in front of them. The three “working” lifts by reception never functioned at the same time, one was permanently out of order and most of the time, just one lift worked, there were not stairs in this part of the hotel so a long wait it was… One day, a lift broke down at the rear of the hotel and we saw a member of staff prizing open the lift doors that had stopped mid floor, full of worried elderly people who were helped out – not a sight that filled you with lots of confidence – the same lift broke down twice and it seemed a regular occurrence. I will switch briefly to some positives: The location to Levante Beach was superb, the rooms were clean and a good size (6th floor facing the pool), the cleaning staff did a fantastic job and the hotel generally was very clean. However, there were lots of occasions when unused tables were full of empty glasses during the day and in the morning the reception bar was fully loaded with used glasses from the night before… The Food: As I said, I did my research and I expected a Spanish bias with variety but had realistic expectations… (We have stayed in numerous AI hotels). Breakfast was the most palatable option, good variety of savoury and sweet, plenty of fruit etc…There was a militant lady doing the “meeting and greeting” in the main restaurant (not convinced she enjoys her job - I will come back to the staff), aggressive signs are placed through the restaurant demanding no one changes tables or moves tables together, a table for 5 people was not always available to accommodate us, with most being 2’s or 4’s. The layout of the hotel is as I say a “Cave Escape Room” theme, signage was dated, sparce and in very broken English with numerous spelling and grammatical errors. This goes for most of the li
