Hyatt House Belmont Redwood Shores

This place is a dump. You’re better off staying at a Motel 6. We checked in, seemed okay at first. Not too thrilled that the rooms were accessible from the outside but it wasn’t a deal breaker. On our way to our room, we noticed there were a few rooms with the doors wide open. We get to our room and there were black trash bags with what looked like sand bags inside. At first glance, it looked like a dead body. We go inside our room and it smelled of smoke and mold. The room was on the first floor and apparently got damaged by the recent rain in the area. I went back to the front desk and requested to moved to another room. We got to our next room and it was no different from the first. It was smelly and old. There were stains in the sofa cushions and mattress. The pillows smelled like cologne. Needless to say, we didn’t want to stay there. I walked back to the front desk and let them know we weren’t staying. The front desk clerks said they couldn’t refund our money (we were booked for 3 nights) but were told to call and speak with the manager the next day. We were on the property for a total of 20 mins. We ended up going to the Hyatt House in Cupertino, which was 1000 times better. I had to call Hyatt corporate to get some help. The hotel not only was terrible but the front desk clerks NEVER checked us out to make it look like we stayed the entire time. THAT IS SHADY. The hotel would only refund me 2 nights even though we didn’t touch/use anything and were only there 20 mins max. Save your time and sanity and stay somewhere else.

The hotel is one of the hotels that can be said nothing bad and if many good things. The rooms are clean, spacious and with all the services you can expect. The computer they lend is enough to print your air tickets or any other pass you require and they will not charge you for prints or for the use of your computer. Without hot water problems, TV in good condition and with many channels, safe parking and sufficient space for all guests. I recommend using the top parking, the underground parking as it doesn't give much confidence, however, I used it one night and there was no problem. The breakfast is good, varied, not excellent but serves to survive until lunch or next meal.

This is not the worst motel stay I've had, but it is definitely near the bottom of the list. We chose to stay here because they allow cats--so that is a definite plus. However, since they don't even provide Do Not Disturb signs for the doors, one of us had to stay in the room all day to send away housekeeping. They were sold out of the room we had reserved a month in advance so we did not get the room we had paid for (had to barter for a credit through hotels.com). Other typical accessories that were not provided: electrical outlets, clock, normal-sized bath towels. Finally, the hotel hallways regularly smelled like cigarette and/or pot smoke and the walls were so thin that we could have talked to either of our neighbors without raising our voices. If we had paid less, then I'd be less disappointed--but for the hotel to charge what I'd expect to pay for a 4-star hotel was insulting and ridiculous.

Executive Summary: This is a nice, quiet, well maintained property in a great location. But if you need darkness to sleep this may not be the hotel for you. Pros: - Clean - Quiet - Convenient location on the peninsula Cons: - U-haul lot next door is lit with GIANT FLOODLIGHTS which stay on all night. Even with blackout curtains closed it still appears to be daylight outside throughout the night. Bring a sleep mask. - Unsecured wifi.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days and 3 nights and never received room cleaning service. The hotel staff told me that I could get a room cleaning service once every other days, but it was not kept properly. This hotel is located next to a highway and does not have double glazed windows, so there is some noise from passing vehicles. And I paid for the hotel in advance, but apart from the cost of the hotel stay, they paid me 50 dollars separately without notice. I think the amount was probably a cost in the name of a deposit, but the cost has not yet been refunded even after 4 days.

This hotel had some mixed reviews, so I wanted to make sure to leave a review because I thought it was great! We stayed one night for a conference taking place down the road. It was easy to find, there was lots of parking, the hotel clerk was very friendly and informative, the rooms were remodeled and had everything one may need. The bathroom was extra spacious which was perfect for 3 ladies rooming together. The coffee-room had Keurig coffee and lots of snacks, which I thought was nice. I would highly recommend!
