I don’t know why Ctrip defines it as an affordable luxury hotel. It’s just an inn. The location is amazing. It’s in Nanluoguxiang and very close to the subway station. My best friend and I have two kids. There are two double rooms and one is upstairs. The door cannot be locked. The window outside is the roof of the house next to it. The other room is on the first floor. In the middle of the night, I felt someone prying on the door and moving the window. It scared the baby so much that he dared not sleep. I called the innkeeper on duty and asked him to come and take a look. It took more than ten minutes to wait in such a small place. The next day I asked other staff and they said that Wong Tai Sin would wander around at night. Well... it's okay to just sleep for the location.

Location: The hotel is in the middle of Hutong community, it is great for getting a glimpse of life in Hutong. Once you make your way out of the Hutong, it is close to a variety of restaurants. The downside of being tucked in the Hutong is, it takes 10 min to walk in (ok in normal standards, but a bit hard when check-in/check-out with kids and luggage), and some Didi driver would whine a bit when they drive in. Interior: The lobby has many traditional Chinese activities for you to try for free, such as traditional clothes, go chess, chinese chess, Guzhen, tea set etc. Fun for both kids and adults. The room is nice and clean. Staff: Staff were very welcoming and responsive. The hotel location is amazing. The room is clean and has all utilities needed, and you can have movies on the TV (the choices are a bit scarce). The lobby has drinks accessible and the staff is really polite which makes up for the little English they speak. I left the city earlier so I had to cancel 3 nights out of the 4 I booked and I received a refund within 1h of chatting with the customer support. Overall, great experience.
