This is the first negative review I have ever written in my life, but my experience at Beachcomber Resort was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn other travelers. We arrived at our room only to discover that there was no electricity and no running water. The staff member who escorted us to the room clearly noticed the situation but simply pretended everything was normal and walked away. We had to return to reception ourselves to report a problem that should never have existed in the first place. Things only got worse from there. We found cockroaches in the room and around the kitchen area, which forced us to change rooms at 11 PM. After a long day of travel, having to pack up and move rooms late at night because of a hygiene issue was completely unacceptable and caused significant inconvenience. The food situation felt like a trap. We had booked a package with breakfast included, yet we were effectively forced into paying for a fixed-price meal plan anyway. The quality of the food was shockingly poor. The hamburger and chicken wings were so bad that one entire meal ended up in the trash. Not once did any member of staff ask whether the food was satisfactory. We asked for water twice and were ignored both times. In the end, I had to get up and find someone myself just to receive water—which, of course, we still had to pay for. The whole system feels designed to extract money from guests. Either you pay for full board upfront, or you arrive on the island and quickly realize you have little choice but to pay for expensive meals anyway. To reach our room, we had to walk directly through the staff accommodation area, with bathrooms and living spaces fully exposed. Instead of feeling like we were staying at a tropical island resort, it felt like walking through a temporary camp. This was certainly not the experience that was advertised. After all of these issues, we informed management that we would be leaving the resort two days early because we simply did not want to stay another minute. Despite the lack of basic services, the hygiene concerns, the terrible food, and the overall experience, not a single dollar was refunded for the two unused nights. What is most disappointing is not just the poor quality of the facilities, but the complete lack of accountability. No genuine apology, no meaningful attempt to make things right, and absolutely no concern for guest satisfaction. I have attached photos showing insects crawling around the kitchen and food service area during operating hours. The pictures speak for themselves. The level of hygiene we witnessed was shocking and completely unacceptable for any hospitality establishment, let alone one charging resort prices. Beachcomber Resort was, without question, one of the worst hospitality experiences I have ever had. Save your money, save your time, and stay somewhere else. There are far better places in Fiji than this overpriced, poorly managed, and deeply disappointing resort.

The island has the most beautiful beachfront on our island hopping at Yasawa islands. Friendly staff , comfortable room with sea view.

All in all a good hotel to recommend further. However I am struggling a bit with the organizational structure. Why is beachcomber not customer oriented in a way to arrange pick up directly from the airport? They leave customers allone just mentioning the office at the harbor. So you have to deal on your own with all those sharks that are trying to take out all your money from your pocket to get to Denarau. Then there are those so called „scheduled“ and „non-scheduled“ departures whereas the second part cost you the almost the double price. There is no real explanation why it is that way you just have to accept or you stay on the main island. So in the morning we were suddenly told the 5pm departure is not taking place and we have to wait for the 7pm departure. We just arrived from the airport and there was no other option then to wait. Being a family with 3 and 5 year old children, coming from a long-term flight, you cannot imagine how terrible and impatient they can be except you are parents. So we staid on our costs, lost the afternoon we wanted to stay on island, without any real excuse or potential compensation. Then the stuff over there is obviously trying their utmost to make your stay feeling as comfortable as possible. But we don‘t understand how fast they csn get overhelmed if you start asking questions. For example, when you say please share one cup of hot chocalate by 2. you always get 2 full cups of hot chocolate. When you ask for äa extra plate at dinner you can spin a coon wether or not you will receive an extra plate. Once they completely mixed up our meal with aünother table and we haüd to wait longer to get our meals served. At least there we got a free of charge drink to compensate for this mess. There should be 3 times a düay complementary snorkeling tours. Out of 3 days ir happend only one day. In the second they morning tour they mentioned something about engine problem. On the third day there was even no official comment about it. We booked the full pension offer, but drinks like coffee are not included. To get your free of charge water you have to make yourself your way through the restaurant to the bar and then the way back so that every single guest can see that you don‘t want to afford a drink at the restaurant. There are some tiny things here and there they could do better from a customer point of view. For example excavator work at the beach front side during the day, exactly throughout our stay. Construction work on the island, including drilling noises also during evening times. For all those things there is no communication or excuses at all. Quality of food is very good and the location us such is beautiful. Shows are cool, we very liked the kava sessions with dance or to see how lovo is preparred.

I strongly advise everyone to avoid this place! The room's hygiene was appalling. The sheets weren't clean to begin with; they had stains, and nobody came to clean the room even once during our 3-night, 4-day stay. The restaurant was swarming with flies, so many that it was impossible to eat a proper meal. The room facilities were extremely basic. There was no TV, no phone to contact the front desk. Every time we had an issue, we had to walk a long way to the reception. On the first night, the island's internet went down. When we went to the front desk, they said it was a network fault and couldn't find someone to fix it until the next morning. For the last two days of our stay, they were constantly pumping the septic tank, and the entire island reeked of sewage. Even the beach was no good; it was full of sharp shell fragments and coral shards. To top it off, the boat transfers to and from the island were on very basic, small speedboats. My child even got seasick and threw up. When we arrived, we saw another hotel's boat from a different island – it was beautiful, large, and looked like a yacht. I checked the prices, and it was much cheaper than this hotel. I've booked hotels on Ctrip for many years and have never left a bad review until now. This experience was truly awful and ruined our entire Fiji trip. From the moment we checked in on the first day, all we could think about was when we could finally leave, eagerly awaiting our departure.

Very nice place. It's a separate island so you have some exclusivity and away from mass tourists. There are daytrippers coming in but does not take away the vibe, it's also nice to have people around. The beach is clean and nice and blue. Love the accommodations with a nice view of the sunset and beach. Good food and very friendly staff. Has lots of free day activities you can join in. Overall good experience.

Beachcomber Island Resort is an incredible place to stay, mainly thanks to its outstanding location. The island itself is absolutely stunning — the beach, the pool, and especially the crystal-clear turquoise water are beyond beautiful. It truly feels like a tropical paradise and is perfect for relaxing or enjoying the ocean. That said, there are several issues regarding the rooms. Cleanliness clearly needs improvement — the bedsheets were dirty, and housekeeping only came once during a four-night stay. The bathroom also had noticeable problems: the shower area wasn’t properly sealed, which caused water to leak underneath the tiles, leading to an unpleasant sewage smell. There were also cockroaches in the room, which was disappointing. Additionally, depending on where your room is located, it can be quite far from the reception. The staff, however, are extremely welcoming, kind, and always willing to help. Their attitude is definitely a highlight of the stay. On the downside, the service can be quite slow at times, and requests are occasionally forgotten. Overall, despite these inconveniences, I would still recommend Beachcomber Island Resort 100% for its value for money. In my opinion, it’s one of the best islands to stay on in Fiji if you’re looking for a beautiful setting at a reasonable price.
