The Crown Hotel Bawtry-Doncaster

I have stayed here in the past and I don’t believe any of the rooms have changed They are dated and tired with thread bare covered furniture The receptionist was miserable and rude and unfortunately she also served us at the bar again later ( same mood ) The breakfast experience was military “ you can sit there you can’t sit there “ you fetch this , I fetch that but the lady working in there was polite and helpful, food was good and nice decor ( exception was old damaged chairs ) Location good but Wouldn’t stay here again until it has a revamp

The staff was great, it was my twin sisters wedding, and they treat us with nothing but respect especially, Flynnn, Lucy, Libby, miles, mattt chapman, ellla and Charlotte, without them, the wedding day , wouldn’t not gone as smooth as it did!, thank you very much, for the memories, and coping with us rowdy bunch! You guys are amazing! ❤️💙

We stayed as this hotel for two nights as it is very convenient for Doncaster races. Bawtry is also a very nice place. Breakfast was good though server on Saturday morning probably ought to tie back her long hair when serving breakfasts and the white bread ran out on Sunday, though the staff in the breakfast area on Sunday were helpful unlike Reception staff who couldn’t seem to be bothered at all during our whole stay. Parking is a complete rip off and having paid £145 a night, it seems so unfair to charge guests again. Reception staff made no effort to help us with a space when we arrived and we struggled to find parking. The most disappointing part of our stay was the standard of the bedroom which was tired and dirty. Filthy, clogged air vents over the bed, full of dust and stains in shower. The toilet had faeces around the rim and at the back of the seat and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time. The bed wasn’t made right and the linen fell off during the night. The linen also felt grubby. The carpet hadn’t been hoovered correctly so there were bits on the floor which stuck to our feet. We stay in a lot of hotels and we felt quite let down and saddened that once was such a great place seems to have let standards drop. The room wasn’t made up at all during our stay which was fine but at their prices, I’d expect it be freshened up. Communal areas were certainly not clean and there were cobwebs in the hallways. The door to the annexe was not locked at all so to me it didn’t feel safe. I would have given all this information in feed back to the Reception but no one asked me if I enjoyed my stay when I was checking out! Will not be visiting again.

A great hotel with friendly staff , good food and excellent service, just let down by my room being very tired. Wallpaper pealing off the wall , even though I mentioned it . Large cobwebs in the room and a very dirty shower head. Good use of excellent with great service at breakfast and evening meals.

A quick review on the restaurant. We did a walk in and got seated within 20 mins. Food and service was pretty damn good for a Sunday. Obviously a keen day for getting overwhelmed for any establishment. Nice town, good venue and a nice glow to it. We will return. Plenty of feel good factor. Highly recommended.

We stay here quite often, and you always get a pleasant welcome,with nothing being too much trouble. The night porter Jimmy, always make you smile when you return after a night on the town! The bedrooms are cosy, and breakfast is fabulous. We look forward to returning again!

The room was clean but the bathroom was not clean, there was feaces on the tiles about the toilet the door to the bathroom was covered in toothpaste which had been smeared on the door. The overall finish to the bathroom was not professional at all it looked like a five year old had done the job. If l wanted to use the shower or bath l had to climb into the bath to get to the taps. We were there for a wedding then room used for weddings was not heated so it was very cold in that room. I think if a hotel is supposed to be a 4 star then it should be a lot better than this

Stayed at the Crown Hotel for a night with the hubby as a treat. The staff were very friendly especially Jimmy and Elliot who were very attentive. The room was clean and beautifully presented. The breakfast selction was excellent including cold and hot choices. I would highly recommend this hotel for a lovely couples stay.

We seem to visit Bawtry and the surrounding area fairly regularly at present, but never been enticed to stay for food as we always have to get home before the restaurants open. However, this time we decided not to rush back and to stay for a Sunday dinner and chose The Crown. Welcome at Reception was friendly and we ordered hot drinks to warm us up while we made a decision. I always check out the menus for any restaurants or pubs online so already had an idea of what I wanted and despite being a fussy eater, there were a couple of starters and main courses that I liked the look of. We had to fetch menus for the restaurant from the restaurant itself rather than them being available in the bar area, but that was a minor inconvenience. Having chosen to stay for the food, we were offered a booth or a table and soon ordered drinks and food - both of us opting for the roast beef dinner for main. Starters arrived promptly and were very tasty. We were offered the food for the next table a couple of times before ours came out of the kitchen correctly, but potatoes were delicious and the beef was thick cut, but lovely and tender. Yorkshire pudding needed to rise a bit kore, as it was dense in the middle. We couldn’t find the room for any desserts, as the main course was so filling. Not a bad price and quality of food was very good. We would come again and likely will when we next visit the shoe shop in town or one of the independent businesses in the centre of Bawtry.
