Premier Inn Barnstaple

The team here are very helpful and informative. The hotel may be a little old but the team clearly work hard to look after it.

Ideally situated with friendly, helpful staff. We were in the annexe, which was ideal for us. Room was slightly tired but more than adequate. The adjoining Table Table pub was the best example of it's kind we visited. The food was lovely and service excellent. Will return

This has got to be the worst Premier inn I have stayed in. the room smelled of damp. Reception agreed, and explained it was due to the grass bank outside the window. They did give me a plug in air fresher, which helped a little. Hotel was full so I was unable to change my room. They explained that these rooms were supposed to be upgraded and the damp smell addressed, but was still waiting. I was on my own on Business. I would have have kicked up more of a fuss if I had been with my family. Reception were trying their best and my issue has nothing to do with them. WIFI is poor to non existent. This is the first time I have ever complained regarding Premier Inn.

Turn off your radiator at the wall unless you want to be woken up at 4…5…6…am thinking “what on earth is that sudden bang”. It’s the metal heating up. Tell staff at reception and they will smirk and say “the radiator’s brand new! we are 24 hours!”—and suggest why not come and fully disrupt your sleep and tell us at reception. Some more sympathy wouldn’t go amiss. Otherwise beds are comfy and room is quiet — but tell people about your faulty radiators!

Advertising free WiFi is all well and good but if you can’t get a signal in the bedroom, bar or restaurant and the staff say sarcastically “tell me about it!?” It really doesn’t make the stay comfortable. Why ram the toilet holder with individual sheets? A standard toilet roll would have made things much easier. Get the basics right and you get 5 stars.

The bedside lamp was damage the switch was pushed in which a child could put their fingers in the hole, Lamp not working by the TV, not a big issue and copper around by the window, and in the corners of the room could’ve done with better clean

The accessible rooms were very unacceptable on the second floor with one tiny lift and no other way of exit other than steep stairs. Yurei very low and uncomfortable and inappropriate for my needs. When I asked about the extremely low bed I was told I might have been in the wheelchair and needed a low bed, but I wasn’t and I didn’t nothing was said to change that.

We arrived on Fri evening , reception staff were great. We are a part of a rugby tour to Barnstaple with around 60 people staying. We won’t stay here for the next ones. Bar closed at 10:15. One staff member( clearly a newer member) on. Waiting for a drink was horrendous. Then to be informed that they did have any more Guinness. A pub without one of the beers it sells is like Tesco running out of milk. No options offered like, we will arrange from another pub, we will get some cans in for the group. Nope. “It’ll be here Weds”……we are staying two nights so as most of our group drink Guinness and quite like the idea to stay up past 10:15( adults do that!) we will en masse visit a different pub/restaurant. We planned to come back twice yearly as a group. Not here now tho. 60 plus people Spending a minimum of £300 in room and bar is just shy of £20k. Twice a year . Really poor folks. Avoid.
