This stay at the Sun Island Resort in Bangkok was exactly as dilapidated as the pictures suggested, making it arguably the worst accommodation experience of my Bangkok trip. The money I spent was a complete waste.
From a hygiene perspective, the corners of the bed were covered in yellowish-brown stains, there was obvious mold on the baseboards, the bathroom sink was cracked, and the cleaning was so perfunctory that visible dirt wasn't even addressed, making me question whether the hotel had any proper cleaning procedures. The aging of the facilities was even more appalling: the door handles were oxidized and loose, the air conditioner remote control was yellowed and the buttons were malfunctioning, and the lights and cabinets in the room were all old and worn, like staying in an unmaintained old apartment, with absolutely no comfort befitting a resort hotel!
