Kumu Beach

Love staff, amazing food and stunning scenery. I would highly recommend Kumu Beach if you are going to Sri Lanka, the views are 2nd none and there is a very relaxed vibe there. There is a door to the beach so you can go for a walk on a completely empty beach.

Boutique hotel, with comfortable size room and bed that looked out onto the gardens. Food delicious and the chef was quite happy to vary the food if you wanted something different. Swimming pool warm and very inviting in the heat of 35 degrees. Fantastic friendly staff especially Ruchira (hope the wedding goes well), Umamangi and Prabriath.

Scenery at the location is just wow! The cleanliness and the staff service are excellent. The Pool is warm in the morning and that’s really great. Better if the food portions could be improved. The garden area is nicely landscaped. I loved my stay.

Excellent boutique hotel right on the coast. We spent 4 nights here after 2 weeks touring Sri Lanka and it was a perfect place to relax. Everything at Kumu Beach is calm and perfect for couples. Our ocean view villa room was well equipped and had a balcony with beautiful views over the gardens and beach. There was a path directly onto the beach from the hotel garden and the pool area was perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The food was excellent and some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The hotel can organise a number of excursions and we took a river safari from the nearby village which we thoroughly enjoyed

We really really enjoyed our stay at the Kumu Beach Hotel! The friendly and courteous staff, the peace and quiet, the beautiful beach and the hotel's garden (pool, patio, etc.), everything is wonderful and almost unbeatable! We are now enthusiastic Kumu Beach Hotel fans and if the opportunity arises, we will be happy to come back. Kind regards and thanks for everything ! Oh, I almost forgot the extraordinary food! The chef and his team are terrific!!!

We had read many reviews praising the location and hospitality of the staff, and it certainly did not disappoint. We had arrived here after about 10 days in the hill country, and so we had to acclimatise to the increased temperature, but it was lovely to have meals served on the verandah overlooking the ocean. There is little to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, although walks to nearby villages are interesting. However, the hotel is just off the Galle Road, with a constant stream of buses to all locations up and down the coast, including Galle, Ambalangoda and Bentota. This makes it easy to explore other parts of the coast. A particularly enjoyable trip, arranged by the hotel, was to Lunuganga, the weekend retreat of the late architect Geoffrey Bawa, who designed the house (now a hotel in the same group as Kumu Beach) and the extensive gardens. We mainly ate Sri Lankan food, which was excellent, and the chef was very willing to meet requests for off-menu items, such as prawns and calamari. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

My partner and I recently stayed here at the end of our Sri Lanka tour organised by Teardrop hotels. We were originally meant to stay three nights but due to a wedding had to stay an additional night in Galle’s Fort bazaar hotel. Despite some confusion over our arrival time Kumu beach was wonderful. The room was very well appointed, spotless and comfortable. The grounds and pool were immaculate and a great area to relax in. Having access to the large beach was also a bonus. The staff were all outstanding especially the manager Chamara, they looked after us very well. The food was also excellent. Highly recommended.

After a challenging and hectic day dealing with the GM of Glenross Living Kalutara, we reached out to Kumu beach for a last-minute booking. They were incredibly kind and accommodating, assuring us not to worry and placing the booking on our behalf . Upon leaving Glenross Living, Kalutara property, we arrived at Kumu Beach around 7:15 pm. The staff was ready for us, promptly taking our bags and offering beverages while assuring our safety and comfort. What followed was an overwhelming display of hospitality. Upon entering our rooms, we found the air conditioning already on, accompanied by a handwritten welcome note. They inquired about our dinner preferences, and after placing our order, we freshened up for a much-needed meal. Remarkably, one waiter named Ruchira noticed my strained voice and promptly brought honey and ginger, suggesting their consumption and even arranging a soothing jug of hot water with crushed ginger—a perfect antidote to the challenges faced earlier at Glenross Living, Kalutara. We stayed for two nights, experiencing the best of everything—from delectable food to exceptional service. Prabath warmly welcomed us each morning at breakfast, ensuring our well-being and promising a memorable holiday. The care extended by Prabath and the team was outstanding, making us feel truly valued. The rooms were immaculate, the bathrooms spotless, and the food spectacular and spicy for us Sri Lankan food lovers. The standout moments were the exceptional hospitality provided by Prabath and Ruchindra. Our entire stay at Kumu Beach was nothing short of amazing, and we were grateful for the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by everyone at the establishment.

Super extensive menu so no need to leave the hotel. Very comfortable beds. Staff were super efficient and so friendly, nothing was a problem. Recommend the sea view rooms.
