Bad Wimpfen is a very sweet, beautiful town on the River Neckar not far from the A6 Saarbrücken- Nuremberg autobahn. Finely preserved and very quiet but with a few good restaurants to choose from. The hotel is in a beautiful, ancient half-timbered building in the town centre. The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Parking couldn’t have been easier - out the front of the hotel (€5 for 24 hours - you need coins(!)) and good wifi. Good cooked breakfast, though you pay an extra €12 per head - it’s not the usual way to be charged extra for breakfast in rural German-speaking Europe. The only other slight negatives were (a) there was no-one at reception when we arrived and we had to let ourselves in - a bit dispiriting and (b) as so often, sadly, in the Teutonic world, the interior of the ancient building had been ruthlessly modernised and was rather impersonal, leaving no antique patina or any other clue that you are in a very old building. Still, overall, 4/5.

Un peu surpris par l’arrivée autonome (pas de personnel à la réception, un digicode pour ouvrir la porte et notre carte de chambre qui nous attendait sur le comptoir), nous avons pris possession de notre chambre pour deux adultes et un enfant. Très bonne surprise, la chambre est spacieuse, moderne et la literie très confortable. L’environnement est calme et nous avons passé deux excellentes nuit. Le premier matin le petit dej a été servi à table et le second matin sous forme de buffet mais dans les deux cas c’étaient très bon et très bien fourni ! Le personnel était également très sympathique. A noter que le parking au pied de l’hôtel est payant mais qu’il est possible de se garer gratuitement à 5 min à pied.

Heel ruime en comfortabel verblijf. Goed georganiseerd ook als de gastvrouw er niet is. Heel netjes. Prima ontbijt. Midden in het historische stadje. Heel prettig verblijf en correct en uitgebreid ontbijt. Vriendelijke gastvrouw. Een aanrader.

Das Hotel liegt mitten in der wunderschönen Altstadt von Bad Wimpfen. Bad Wimpfen ist eine echte Perle, und "die Sonne" passt sich wunderbar in dieses Ambiente ein. Zu empfehlen ist ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Platz davor, mit vielen schönen Fachwerkhäusern. In der Regel ist bei Ankunft die Rezeption nicht besetzt, was einem vielleicht erst mal komisch vorkommt, aber die ganze Eincheck-Prozedur ist so gut geregelt und organisiert, dass man eine Rezeption gar nicht vermisst. Zum Beispiel findet sich ein iPad mit einem kurzen Filmchen, wie und wo man das Fahrrad verstaut, und tatsächlich klappt alles wie am Schnürchen. Am nächsten Morgen dann, bei dem wirklich guten Frühstück, ist dann sehr nettes Personal da.
