Super 8 by Wyndham Austin Downtown/Capitol Area

The stay was much better than expected. Everywhere was clean and honestly they should update their pictures because the bedding was white and clean and looked a bit more updated than the pics. This was my first time staying in a motel and there were concerns of safety as anyone could come in and out of the property so had my door locked at all times. Sounds could be heard between walls and often times someone knocked on my door , while looking through the peephole it always seemed to be a homeless person. So please be vigilant when staying here and don’t wonder about at night. There was shampoo/conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom however it was empty and during my 3 night stay I wasn’t visited by housekeeping once. Also the rooms are very dark as the only window in the premises faces the walkway so I had to keep curtains closed at all time. There’s a bus stop right outside so easy to travel around. Breakfast is served but it isn’t substantial, cereals, fruit and waffles.

Good location, comfy bed and rest of the accomodation was fine. Just the WiFi that was slow.

I had a disappointing experience at the Wyndham Austin. At check-in I was charged an additional $50 fee that was not clearly explained beforehand. The receptionist insisted that I sign a document and the situation felt uncomfortable and somewhat pressuring. The way the extra charge was handled made me feel insecure as a guest. Because of this, I did not feel comfortable handing over my passport and only showed a photo instead. Travelers should be aware that additional charges may appear at check-in and that the process was not clearly communicated. Transparency and clearer explanations would improve the experience for guests.
