Haka House Auckland City Reviews

Great location, very convenient for getting to Queen Street. The communal kitchen area is huge, and it's really well-equipped with all the cooking utensils and tableware you could need. The service is excellent; there's pretty much always someone available or reachable 24/7. My only minor complaint is that the kitchen's range hood isn't very effective, so you can sometimes get a bit choked by cooking fumes in the common area.

Ended up staying a third night and still a great experience. Consistent comfort, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely stay again!

Great place to stay with friendly staff! All facilities are clean and well maintained. I enjoyed my stay at Haka House.

This is the best hostel we’ve stayed in! Beds were super comfy, rooms and facilities were clean and well managed, communal bathrooms and kitchens were well equipped and enough for the amount of people so you never had to wait for a shower or for a space to cook!  We enjoyed it so much we booked another Haka House for later in the trip.  Photo of our room which was a private twin (with shared bathroom).

Hostel is perfect but bad experience with a couple of roommate. Then late back to the room after 11pm but doesn't care other to make noise and talking over half an hour. I never had this issue before just once terrible experience.

The staff here are all discriminatory towards Chinese people, and one Japanese employee was particularly bad. When something went missing, they conveniently claimed they couldn't find it.

Overall, I had a decent stay at this hostel. The common areas were nice, and I appreciated the security and overall safety of the property. It had everything you'd expect from a standard hostel, and the facilities were well maintained. The only downside was the smoking. There were quite a few people smoking around the hostel, so some areas smelled like cigarette smoke. One of my roommates also appeared to be a regular smoker, and unfortunately the smell carried into our room, which made it less comfortable. Aside from that, it was a good, straightforward hostel. Nothing particularly fancy or exciting, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and I'd consider staying here again.

This hotel is great and the price is affordable. Haka has a consistent design style in New Zealand, so you can't go wrong with them.

Overall good, kitchen is much better than Lylo. Pretty clean and has paper towels in the kitchen too but lylo offers more free activities.

The common areas are spacious and well-equipped, which made the stay really comfortable. The only downside is that the room felt a bit cramped.

The room facilities are quite good and newly renovated. The charging sockets and nightlights are very convenient. The hostel kindly offered me a free one-hour late checkout, which was a nice touch. However, the rooms facing the street can be extremely noisy at night, especially on weekends, because there's a nightclub directly across the street that keeps going until 4 or 5 AM. The lockers are self-locking, which is secure and handy. What I found hard to understand, though, was having to pay extra for a bath towel ($2), and there was no shower gel or shampoo in the showers.

Clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The service was attentive and thoughtful. It was raining all day yesterday, and the key was in a small box next to the supermarket. The staff patiently guided me until I successfully checked in. Thank you!
