The Athens Gate Hotel

Starting with the positives — the location is excellent. As a tourist, you can walk to everywhere you'd want to go in the city center. The rooftop restaurant is fantastic, with stunning views directly overlooking the Acropolis, and the food is good as well. The hotel staff are friendly and attentive, responding promptly to any questions or requests. On the downside, the hotel is a bit dated — some of the wallpaper and baseboards are peeling.

Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. The restaurant on the roof serves fantastic food and the waiters and waitresses are really attentive. Stayed at a few hotels in Athens, and this our favourite. Lovely bar also to enjoy a drink after a long day of exploring. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Strategic location, walking distance to most of the tourist attractions, near to metro station and I like the food served for breakfast, variety and delicious. Value for money

Very nice check in staff. The young man who checked us in was very thorough and super help-full. The location is very good. You’re in the middle of everything but that also comes at the cost of noisy streets. Breakfast is okay but limited. The men attending the breakfast are very nice. Everyone was very nice overall. The people at reception would always greet you when you came in and would goodbye to you when you left. Noisy from the street but easily fixed with earplugs. Construction going on during weekdays. The elevators are not very efficient and if you wanted to take the stairs the smoke smell is very strong. Even with these negative parts, we would stay here again.

Booked this hotel because the room offers landmark view. Booked 2 rooms together. Upon arrival, the rooms were seperated. It's not even on the same floor! 1 of the rooms is at the 6 floor and the other room is at the 3rd floor! I informed the hotel at least 1 month ahead that we were be checking in after 11.30pm as we would be coming after the ferry docked at the Port at Athens I asked the reception to change the room. His replies was the hotel was fully booked. No more room available and he would ask his staff to look out tomorrow if there is available for us to stay at the same floor (that was what I was asking for at least). I was disappointed but knowing we could not do much for this is how Greek works. We were sharing luggages, hence this caused alot of inconvenience for us at 12 midnight after we check-in. We took extra 30mins to go up and down to split the luggages. The room at level 3 did not have any landmark view despite when it was indicated so when I made the booking. Only the room at level 6 offers a landmark view. Breakfast spread is very limited. It doesn't even have salad or any green to offer. On the 2nd day, they did not approach or offer any change of room either. Well, not worth coming this hotel next time. Stayed at another hotel before that, the service was top notch despite it is a much smaller boutique hotel than The Athens Gate Hotel.
