Hotels near Monastery of St. Simeon in Aswan

We were initially happy about the hotel, the kitchen staff were great with my friend with mobility issues, the rooms were nice, the view was great. However, trying to get a refund for over paying for our stay has been terrible. Their credit card machine did not produce a receipt so they said it the transaction did not go thru, so they ran my credit card card a second time. Again no receipt, so my friend paid instead. Well, the 2 charges on my credit card did got thru, as I saw them on my credit card statement. The hotel says they reversed 1 charge, but that's a lie because no credit was issued. The hotel continues to refuse to reverse the charges and refuses to communicate with my bank. Therefore, the bank is saying I'm responsible. The hotel got paid 3 times for the 1 night stay! I cannot believe that I'm the only one this has happened to. So AVOID staying here,

This hotel is located in downtown Aswan close to everything. We were in one of their suite rooms that had 2 rooms inside with a bathroom with a huge jacuzzi. The staff was friendly. Check in was easy and the breakfast was excellent. We had the amazing view of the nile river and the city. Will surely stay here again when we come to Aswan

The scenery and environment of the hotel are very good, and the facilities are complete. There are few people staying in the hotel when it first opened. You can have the entire villa to yourself. The time and distance to and from Abu Simbel are the same as those in the old city, so it is suitable for vacation.

Wonderful experience! This place is the best place to stay when you are in Aswan if you like peace and quite and beautiful views. The location is magical right in front of Philae temple, You reach the hotel by taxi boat (check in and check out are free drive) You are far from the city center please keep this in mind! But for us this was perfect. we wanted a place to relax in a nice quiet environment to end our holiday in busy Egypt. THE STAFF All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The service was great! The welcome hibiscus drink was a nice extra touch! THE HOTEL GROUNDS The hotel is situated on a private island in front of Philae temple. The buildings are build in a traditional way with respect for nature. We really loved the use of natural materials it gives an extra connection with the environment. The Vegetable garden is a beautoful oasis. they grow their own food to use in the restaurant. We also loved the cats and dogs (Rita and Anton) They have a private beach with river access and also kayaks. THE RESTAURANT The restaurant location is breathtaking, right in front of Philae temple. Its not only a beautiful place, the food is amazing to! And you can tell because of the large groups who visit the restaurant for lunch when they end their visit in the temple. We had lunch and diner in the restaurant and it was perfect! Very fresh and delicious and a lot of choice on the menu. Breakfast is also very good. At night you can watch the lightshow on the temple. THE ROOM The room is very basic but good. It is small but for us perfect. The bed is comfortable and the balcony beautiful with nile views and even the temple complex! The bathroom was very basic, the room floated while showering. There is no wifi in the room but that is absolute not a problem for us. TRANSFERS The taxi boat transfers were very good. we had no problems with our transportation to the city and the airport. They even arranged a boat for us at 3u30 in the morning because we had an early flight to Cairo. They also made us a breakfast box to take on the plane! City Max Aqua Park This hotel is in New Aswan, which is about 30 mins from the city centre. It’s a decent hotel with clean facilities and courteous staff. We were only there for one night but the experience was a good one. We didn’t use the aqua park but it could be a nice place for families with small children. The hotel provided us with a packed breakfast as we had to catch an early flight. It also has free WiFi. I recommend this hotel.

Magical property in magical land. Extremely professional and accommodating staff and service. The ground floor spa equally impressive where I enjoyed full body massage on consecutive days. One small issue with thermostat was dealt with promptly and to full satisfaction. I don’t believe you can improve upon The Old Cataract in any stay in Aswan..

We booked Villa Misk because of the beautiful view overlooking the boats and Philae temple in the distance. The villa is slightly out of town, which makes it very peaceful and tea on the terrace overlooking the water is just wonderful. The hospitality here is second to none. Ahmed and his family went above and beyond to make our stay in Aswan the best that it could be. They were very accommodating of our early check in and late check out. Ahmed not only organised a visit to Abu Simbel for us from Aswan, he very kindly organised a driver for us for our time in Luxor as well. Our best memories in Egypt are all thanks to Ahmed’s kindness and expertise. Definitely book this place - it’s a gem.

This small hotel is in a small village. I went in February. It was dry and cold. The air conditioner could be cooled. The wind in the door was very strong. The panoramic room had a balcony on one side and it was colder. Sara at the front desk is more professional and can ask her if she needs to ask, but she goes to work at 10 am. The one in charge of the bar was very unreliable. The pot of hot water for us was unwashed. The pot of milk was released. The water soaked was all paste. The food and hygiene were completely untrustworthy. And sold us two bottles of water. We didn't order it, he took it directly to us. So we thought it was breakfast, and finally showed us the price list and asked us for money. I said you didn't tell us, he said you didn't ask. Aswan's first stop impression is therefore very poor!

This stay at Movenpick was particularly satisfying. I (13 years old) had a fever and had diarrhea, and I had to go to the toilet as soon as I ate, so I could lie in bed. I was with the group, but everyone else went to see the Abu Simbel Temple. The plane was going to 7 pm. According to the original plan, I needed to sit in the hotel lobby for 5 hours. After communication, the hotel manager happily agreed to extend the check-out time from 12 to 4 o'clock and did not charge any fees. In the morning, when the parents went to the restaurant to help me pack breakfast and lunch, the restaurant staff was also very enthusiastic and took the initiative to help us pack a lot of food, we were very touched.
