Laponia Hotell & Konferens

The hotel looks good from the outside, but we never got the chance to test it because the person in the reception was not very flexible or service minded. We travelled with a small dog (Chiahuahua), and even though they had vacant rooms, we weren`t allowed to hire one with the dog, even though we promised to keep him in his cage. On other hotels we always get the chance to hire a room even if its not a dog room, if we pay a little extra for a deeper cleaning job after the stay. Very disappointing Laponia :-(

Our first impression of this hotel was not great, when we checked in there were a lot of intoxicated people in the hallways and on the balconies of various rooms. However, our room was very nice and practical (a family room with a small kitchenette and balcony, tea and coffee, fridge, dishes) and the reception staff was very friendly. Later in the evening things had calmed down and were quiet. The hotel is a little older but was designed well with lots of different areas for gathering, which is good for families. We did not use the pool as the smell of chlorine was very strong and the cleaning seemed a little questionable in that area. The dinner restaurant across the street, Laponiakåtan, did not appeal at all (limited menu, price and atmosphere, tons of mosquitos outside). Luckily there is an ICA within a short walk so we could eat in our room. The breakfast buffet was horrible, most things were out and not replaced (45 minutes before it was due to end), very strange, inedible scrambled eggs, tables full of dirty dishes, no milk for coffee, spilled food everywhere. They are obviously very understaffed. We would stay here again, but would plan to eat dinner in our room and know to expect a very basic, small breakfast.

Nice hotel in general. Nice welcome from the French receptionist, very nice pool, sauna and relax area, good complete breakfast. But sleeping has been a bit of a stuggle. The room was much too warm, even with the window open by 5 degrees outside. Got woken up by the sunlight at 5:00am because the curtains are not enough to keep the room dark. A shame in the country of the midnight sun... When telling that to the receptionist while checking out, we got a grin and "well yes, it's starts to be summer". Yes, we get that, we live an hour away from Arvidsjaur. But if we manage to get our own bedroom dark, a hotel should be able to do that as well. Poor sens of service to answer that way, make us feel like we are 2 guests in a million (of course it's the case, but don't make your guests feel that way!). Unfortunately, there was also renovation just below our room and we got to hear the building noises from 7:00. Got apology for that.

It is a good standard hotel. Services worked fine. A nice touch was a free shuttle from and to Inlandsbanan.

The hotel is situated very strategically for travels to and from kiruna/abisko/kvikkjokk, for us it was a stay-one-night hotel but it turned out to be so much more. The hotel has A LOT tesla chargers and its restaurant is definitely worth a visit, it has a local touch and very good food with generous portions. We has a suite an it turned out to be actually an apartment converted to hotel room. Very spacious but a bit strange. The hotel has a pool and access was included in the price of the suite, much to the liking of our kids. The room also has a sauna. The sound isolation is so so , we could hear our neighbor quite nicely. Breakfast area is huge with very good selection. First hotel ever we have seen hand sanitizers inside the elevator.

Late arrival, but perfectly handled by staff at the check-in. Room was ok, with a decent bathroom and a good bed, but we missed a mosquito-safe window. As the room was quite warm through the night. And after killing five mosquitos on arrival we chose to keep all windows closed. Breakfast buffet was ok. Staff perfect.
