The Coach and Horses

Arun District
We stopped off at the Coach and Horses with some friends for a one night stay whilst on a short road trip. We had visited Bognor Regis earlier in the day and so arrived at the hotel late afternoon. The hotel is part of the Coach and Horses public house and is easy to find located on the A27. We drove here and there was plenty of (free) parking for patrons. We checked in, in the bar area of the public house and met the owner who seemed very friendly and helpful and after being allocated our rooms we moved to the adjacent (separate) accommodation building which is of much newer construction. Entrance to this building requires a room pass key giving a good level of security. The interior is very clean and contemporary in its decoration, our rooms were located on the first floor and this is reached by a flight of stairs. Our room was a good size, very clean and decorated with light brown walls with a darker brown feature wall behind the bed and a shining white ceiling and windows looking out over the green fields at the rear of the property. The room was furnished with an ornate wooden double bed with bedside cabinets, a table and two chairs, a dressing table with mirror, wardrobe and flat screen TV. A small chest of drawers was also available and complimentary tea and coffee facilities were provided. The room had free Wifi. The bathroom was all tiled and had a bath and shower, basin and toilet and ‘built in’ hair dryer. There was a ledge above the sink giving lots of space for our own toiletries and a heated towel rail, which is always welcome. An electric shaver socket was provided and a small collection of complimentary toiletries were also provided. Everything about the room looked relatively new being both clean and well maintained, it was very welcoming. Being at the rear of the property, there was minimal road noise from the busy A27 and we slept well that night with the windows ajar. Our host was welcoming enough, quite friendly and helpful really and later that evening we dined in the public house (subject of another review), after having an early evening walk along Worthing seafront. We thoroughly enjoyed our (short) stay at the Coach & Horses and would most certainly consider a return visit if we were in need of accommodation in this area. We would not hesitate to recommend this to others.

Avisford Park Hotel

This was our second stay here over recent years which was convenient for our plans. Since our first stay the hotel has come out of the Hilton group. The check-in receptionist was very pleasant & helpful. Our request for a quiet room was met. A wedding on each of our two days was at the far end of the building away from our bedroom. I have to agree with another reviewer - the bedroom doors should not slam so loudly. This needs investigation & resolution. This time breakfast was good - plenty of choice including fresh fruit, cereals, cooked breakfast etc. Coffee machines not great but does mean you can refill mug when you wish. Evening meal quite tasty but food could have been hotter. Waiting staff were friendly. Our bottles of water & biscuits on the hospitality tray were supplied for the first day only. We were a hand towel short for our second day. We were glad that bathroom products were in large, fixed dispensers rather than tiny plastic bottles. The hotel continues its refurbishment programme. Maybe we will return when it has been completed.
Findon Manor Hotel

We only had a short one night stay in this hotel but were impressed by the hotel and staff. Our stay was at the start of England’s second lockdown so there were several queries we made with the hotel via messages. before arriving. The replies were prompt, helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Ginerva room and found the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and spotless. It was very quiet and we got a good night sleep. The lady who welcomed us at breakfast was lovely and made us feel very comfortable. We chose the cooked breakfast and it was cooked to perfection using locally sourced ingredients. This is definitely a hotel e would recommend to others. It’s location is semi rural with easy commute to other areas of Sussex.
Amberley Castle- A Relais & Chateaux Hotel
4.6/571 Reviews
We spent two nights at Amberley Castle. It is a remarkable quaint building oozing with history. Being a castle the rooms are perhaps a little smaller than average but that is part of the quaintness and character. The whole place is beauttifully maintained. Apart from the building itself there are gorgeous grounds and the neighbouring village of Amberley is a picture postcard delight. The staff in the hotel were exceptional, particularly Michael and Henny and the food is everything you would expect of a 5 star hotel

Norfolk Arms Hotel

Check-In was a breeze. Room came with fan (which is a god send in these humid evenings). Provided with more bottled water in the evening after finishing the water provided within the room. Pros: Very hospitable / provided extras / overall friendly service Cons: No mini fridge in room (I often bring snacks and drinks for my stay). Extended my check-out for £25.00 from 11am til 1pm . Breakfast is £12.50 per person, but we opted out after eating at the Italian restaurant across the street (very filling).
The White Swan

FIRSTLY the Wi Fi across the hotel was dreadful. Free it may have been, but it also failed to load most of the time. made local researching very difficult. SECONDLY, vegetarian options were sorely lacking. just 2 dishes, one burger and one fish. Situation made worse because the main lunch / dinner menu doesn't change much. This meant we ate out of the hotel in town, instead of staying 'in' for dinner, where we could have played games and had a few drinks in the bar instead. Really disappointing veggie menu (and if you're vegan, honestly, don't bother!) THIRD issue is that our room, at the end of the block was much colder than our friends' room. Ours had 2 windows, was only single glazed, and only one radiator, so understandable, but was really noticeable as we moved around the rooms. Having said all that, the hotel had good parking, nice vibe, and was friendly enough. Breakfast was good.
