A Fantastic Hotel run by a Family who are clearly passionate about what they do (not something you get with Hotel chains). All the staff appear to work long hours and are friendly, polite and helpful. The Hotel is modern and clean. We had a sea view room which is definitely worth paying extra for. Sat out on the balcony enjoying the lovely views and with the added bonus of watching the sunset. The room is quite small so you need to be organised and tidy to make effective use of the space. But it had everything you needed including a fridge, hairdryer, safe, kettle, air conditioning etc Breakfast has everything you need with continental and hot food (poached, fried or scrambled eggs available to order). They were open until 10:50am in the mornings for those who enjoy a lie in. They also do a lunch and evening menu. The food is very good and reasonably priced. 7 euros for Burger and Chips! The Pool area is very chilled with no background music and you could always get a sunbed. The steps down to the road aren't that bad with level areas to stop if required. We went to the beach opposite and had a swim (warmer than the pool!) but it was quite rocky in parts so beach shoes are recommended. Stalos itself consists of a main road of shops, bars and restaurants which wasn't particularly busy even in August. We made the decision to get the bus into Chania town on three evenings and we are so glad we did! It was buzzing! Street entertainers, live music, narrow streets full of character, shops, waterfront bars and restaurants, an old Venetian harbour and a marina. The bus runs every 20 minutes and costs 2 euros per person each way. Absolute bargain! Overall, we had a very relaxing holiday on our first visit to Crete. We had great weather and met some lovely guests who have stayed many times previously (not surprising to see why). Suited more for older couples looking to chill out rather than young families whose children may become bored. Don't hesitate to book this Hotel.........you won't regret it. The Family who run this Hotel should be very proud. Well Done to them all!👍
