GGuest UserThe location and cleanliness of the room were excellent. However, there doesn't seem to be a permanent staff member at the hotel, so you need a passcode to enter. This means you must complete the web check-in by the day before your arrival to receive the passcode and room number via email from the hotel. It's absolutely essential not to forget to do the self-check-in beforehand.

GGuest UserI really don't know where all the negative reviews are coming from, I loved this place. Stayed there for 3 nights and had a great experience. Everything was clean and nice, sheets were clean, no bedbugs, no bad smell, very nice and light room, tv, balcony, hair dryer, towels, shampoo, toilet paper, dishes, small fridge that even had a little freezer inside, stove, the place had everything you might need while travelling. Had no problems with check in, the box is behind the building outside, just put my code in and got the keys, never had to contact any of the stuff, everything was on time. The building has an elevator. The only little thing was that there was a little floor damage that was not a problem for me, and the shower curtain was a bit dirty, would recommend them to change it. I expected this place to be really bad after reading all those reviews, but I got very surprised when I got there, everything was great, would definitely stay there again.
The location is great, I'd say pretty walkable like 30 minutes walk to the main station, but there's also a tram stop right next to the building, as well as kiosks, stores and restaurants.

GGuest UserThe location was very convenient, near a station with many lines. You can't enter from the front of the building, so you have to go around to the back. There are two key boxes lined up, and the key comes out from the one that matches the key code. The key code will be sent to you by email from the hotel immediately after booking, and you can get the key code by entering the necessary information.
I read a lot of reviews, so I was pretty prepared, but it was less inconvenient than I thought it would be.
The shower had a curtain, so the toilet didn't get flooded. The amenities were a gel that included body soap and shampoo (as is the case everywhere in Switzerland), so if you are concerned about that, I recommend bringing your own body soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
The TV didn't turn on. The window didn't close completely, so I blocked it with a weight. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the neighbors walking and the phone ringing, and the building is old.
Checking out is also done by putting the key in the box. It feels more like an Airbnb than a hotel.
I stayed for one night and checked in late and checked out early, so it didn't bother me too much and I thought it was reasonable considering the price.

GGeorgie GerLet's face it Switzerland and Zurich aren't affordable for the budget traveller. So this accommodation isn't exactly value but it isn't too bad.
Location is good proximity to the train station (10 minutes walk) but to the historic quarter and the lake it's a little bit further (allow 25-30 mins). There's supermarkets located less than 50 metres away (across the street and up the road). Also plenty of places to get food or go to a bar.
The communication via email was prompt, timely and detailed. There's no reception here and you get instructions and codes to access things.
The room was an ok size but very spartan in regard to fittings or amenities. Think a clean, one star hotel and this is it. There's no kettle or AC but there's a hairdryer and TV.
Also note that it's on a busy road and the area is up and coming. This means traffic, people and cars. So it can get noisy. Even the Swiss people can be loud sometimes. I was lucky it wasn't a warm evening, so I could keep the window shut but if it was open, there would be enough noise to make it hard to fall asleep (and I was on the floor 3).
