Hôtel Restaurant le Combava

To make a sordidly long story short: I was given a room w/a completely molded bathroom. I asked them if I they could give me another rooms. They said they were filled to capacity, which seemed odd because I hardly saw any other guests while I was there. They assured me that the BLACK mold was, "no big deal," & just, "the color of the tiles." They assured me that, "they had much nicer rooms & that this bathroom didn't reflect the quality of the hotel." 😮. I asked them what that had to do with my molded shower. The next morning they called themselves compensating for the inconvenience by bringing the breakfast I paid for to my room. Room service for a breakfast I paid for was their gesture. Save yourself the frustration of incompetence and book a room at San Cristobal or Hotel Nosy Manga if you need a place close to the airport.

For most visitors the value will be in the excellent restaurant, artistically decorated rooms, quiet shaded courtyard, and proximity to both the airport and the large craft market, away from the noise and bustle. For us it was the staff. My husband experienced a medical emergency, and the staff quickly arranged for a doctor and nurse to visit him in the room to diagnose his problem, and then ordered transport to a hospital. They responded with alacrity and professional calm. Upon his discharge they were most supportive. I can't thank them enough.

Combava is near the airport and a series of rice paddies. We stayed here as we had ongoing domestic flights. When my husband was ill with food poisoning, the staff quickly arranged a doctor to visit us in our room to make a diagnosis, and he was subsequently taken to a hospital. The staff at Combava were excellent in attending to all our needs and anticipating so that there were no delays. I cannot thank them enough. In addition, the restaurant is one of the best in Tana, and has a related farm that supplies it with safe vegetables. The food is inexpensive for its great quality. There is a craft market for souvenirs just a 5 minute walk away, and you can walk or take a short taxi ride to a nearby mall for banking or other shopping needs. The rooms are spacious and artistically decorated. The restaurant has shady garden courtyard tables as well where you can linger. If you are still you will have beautiful birds come to your table.

Situated half way between Tana International Airport and downtown Tana this well run Boutique Hotel is a little gem. Staff are very helpful ,rooms are spacious and well furnished with tea and coffee making facilities,microwave etc. The food on offer was tasty and French style. The Combava offers airport pick up and drop off for a small fee, I would definitely stay here again.
