We stay frequently at Mercure hotels and this is one of the best. Central location, lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. Quiet, clean, comfortable rooms, attentive staff. And a great bargain too! We look forward to staying here again next time we are in the area.

Vivez votre pire experience hôtelière! 👿 Si vous avez un check-in tardif a faire, le gerant saura vous accueillir avec la pire malhonnêteté et méchanceté possible... Jamais cela ne m'etais arrivé. Si je n'avais pas déjà laisser une emprunte de carte bancaire, je ne serai jamais resté... J'appel pour connaitre les modalités d'une arrivé tardive. Le gerant mindique comment cela va se passer mais me donne le code d'ouverture oralement et me demande de bien noter mon heure d'arrivée dans le commentaire de la resa. Ce que je fais lors de ma resa en ligne en demandant la confirmation par ecrit du code de la portebque je n'avais pas eu oz temps de noter. Je recois la confirmation de resa mais ne verifie pas que le code m'a bien été fournit ( ma faute!) Arrivé sur place, tout est fermé, éteint, et le téléphone ne repond pas. Il est 23h, j'attend et tourne en rond depuis 30 min et ne sachant pas quoi faire. J'essai de rappeler a 3 reprise et le gerant répond finalement au 4eme appel. Je m'excuse de l'appel tardif et explique que je n'ai malheureu*****t pas reçu le code d'ouverture de porte par email. Je me fait traiter une premiere fois de menteur. Le code m'a été donné oralement et il n'a jamais validé le fait qu'il confirmerai par mail ce code. Super... Il m'expliqie comment rentrer a distance, et m'indique qu'une clé est disponible a mon nom derrière le comptoir. Dommage il y a 2 clés, et pas de nom... Il me demande ce que je raconte encore, que je dis nimporte quoi , que je dois arrêter de raconter n'importe quoi, pour finalement descendre en robe de chambre, s'apercevoir qu'il n'y a en effet pas de nom mais ce n'est évidemment pas de ça faute! 😅 Il me donne une troisieme clés sortie d'un fond de tiroir. Je dis ”merci, bonne soirée”, en me retenant de traiter cet énergumène de tous les noms. Ce a quoi on me repond: ' et pas d'histoire!' Je ne peux m'empêcher de repondre ' ah ben sympa!' Et on me repond encore 'c'est vous qui avez commencé !' Et bien oui nous sommes a la maternelle... Je ne repond pas et prend possession de ma chambre. Tres propre, mais puante. J'ai dormis la moitié de la nuit la fenetre ouverte a cause de cette odeur et de oa chaleur, car 3etoile, mais pas de clim et 30 degrés... Je me ferais un plaisir de raconter mon temoignage partout sur mon passage, auprès de la chaine Brit qui doit être au courant des agis*****ts de son gerant. C'est inacceptable. Je retiens mes mots par respect meme si maintenant que j'ai pu lire d'autres avis, j'ai pu lire que cet homme est capable du pire, meme de racisme. Svp, pour le bien de tous, fuyez cet établis*****t, il y a tellement mieux a 5min de marche!

The hotel was very clean and modern, and the hotel was renovated in 2020 after the exchange with the owners. The room is very comfortable (160 bed), it is a very good point. Finally, breakfast is really very good and very good (you will find bread natural - cereals, sweet butter and half salt, various varieties of confectionery, cereals, cheese, yachts and composts, charcuterie etc.). Excellent price quality ratio ! !

TRES BIEN POUR UNE PREMIERE DECOUVERTE d'ANGOULEME. L'accueil à l'arrivée et au départ était très bien. Nous sommes restés une nuit. Bon petit-jeuner ! Le bâtiment est assez atypique;-) Les chambres pourraient faire l'objet d'une future rénovation.

A typical, old-style French hotel but with quirky decor in the public places. It has a fabulous location right at the top of Angoulême, at the beating heart of the eating and drinking quarter. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Although there is parking at the hotel, there are not many spaces and it is hard to find. There are other carparks very close by at similar prices. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars was that the bathroom was so dimly lit that I found it hard to shave.
