Elounda Gulf Villas by Sandglass
4.5/549 Reviews
Our Villa, Samos was beautiful, modern and bright, floor to ceiling windows and doors that opened onto terrace with comfortable chairs for lounging, table and chairs for outside dining, sun-loungers and our own private heated pool. In our garden terrace there is honey suckle and a little grass area and a variety of plants and trees. Panoramic views of the Islands and the sea.The sunrise at 6.30 every morning, a spectacular sight. It was all so pretty. The villa is on one level but has stairs down to the private spa room. Which has a stream room, shower, massage bed, candles and music station for docking to play relaxing music. I had two massages, one complementary, the other the Cretan massage, which is a full body massage and it was wonderful. Alexandra the therapist is very experienced and professional. She has a very gentle, friendly, manner and made me feel relaxed. I felt as if the the massage was catered for my body. It cost 150 Euros, well worth it. I went on holiday to relax, after my massage I felt a lightness and was more flexible. I will now have a massage once a month as Alexandra has proved the benefits. The hospitality is amazing! We called them the 'dream team'. They have all been there for a long time and are clearly happy to work there. Do talk to them and engage if you go there, as they are people with lives and family and they are only too happy to share their life experiences with you and tell you so much about their lovely island home. They also give you the best recommendations of places to go, places that they themselves go to. The walk down from Villa Samos to the restaurant and reception, is a walk of nature and sensuality. Hence the rosemary and honeysuckle and many other beautiful plants native to Crete. I am a little sad that I am not there now to see all of the flowers and trees in full bloom, they were just coming out when we were there. There is so much to do, we went to Knossos, Agios Nikolas and Plaka. Lovely days out, and not to crowded when we went. Good shops, excellent choices of food. Plaka has got a wine shop called the Delicatessen, which is worth a visit for all wine lovers. Elounda Gulf Villas provide rest and relaxation at a luxury level. So if you don't want to go out you can stay in. It is such a beautiful resort that you actually don't want to be away from for to long We will be going back. Thank you, Louise, Angela, Evey, Stathis, Sophia, George, George and George, Mikalis, Manos, Alexandra, Isadore, Yannis and last but certainly not least, the lovely Anastasia xx The food in the restaurant is amazing and the chef made us a wonderful chocolate gateaux for our wedding anniversary. Compliments to the chef!
Elounda Bay Palace, a Member of the Leading Hotels of the World
4.3/560 Reviews
I recently stayed at Elounda Bay Palace hotel with my mother and 9 month old baby son. We booked it 24 hours before, looking for a quiet break and that’s exactly what it was! Firstly we arrived late roughly around midnight and when we got to our room there was sandwiches and Greek salad waiting for us which was a nice touch as we were hungry after a long day of travelling. Our room was nice but on the smaller side so we asked for an upgrade which the reservations manager kindly accommodated and we were moved to a ground floor double room which was ideal as it was right near the pool area and there were less steps for the pram. We did have a few issues with our new room as the lock on the door was temperamental as it was a key lock rather than the usual electronic swipe card, but we felt the reception staff couldn’t do enough to help and even offered us a complimentary lunch for our trouble. The setting of the hotel is very quiet and serene, given the time of year we travelled there it was off peak season so the hotel wasn’t full at all so there was no shortage of sun beds available etc. There is a sister hotel next door Elounda Beach and i believe you are able to use their facilities also but we didn’t need to. The food was lovely, just a standard buffet restaurant for breakfast and evening meal and then there are restaurants dotted around the complex you can use pay for lunch or pay extra for evening meal. One big negative I will say is the prices were ridiculous, 7€ for a coffee and 20€ for a subpar club sandwich and chips… I couldn’t understand how they could charge this much! We ended up going to the supermarket and buying bread, cheese and ham and having sandwiches for lunch every day as we couldn’t afford to eat in the restaurants for lunch every day. This is a really quiet resort and there is no entertainment on an evening so it depends if you want somewhere lively. It was ideal for us as we wanted a quiet week away! The staff were all so friendly and lovely and were so good with my little boy; it can be daunting taking a baby to a foreign country but they certainly made us feel at ease. The hotel is a short walk from the village of Elounda which is stunning and lots of places to eat and drink! It’s roughly a 20 minute walk. Overall we had an amazing stay and the views were beautiful, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet week away with stunning views.
Royal Marmin Bay Boutique & Art Hotel

The photos really don’t do this hotel justice. It’s beautiful with its own private beach. We stayed for a week at the end of the season and had the most amazing time. The hotel is clean, bright and welcoming. The restaurant staff are brilliant and the food excellent. Although the hotel is built into the hillside, there are 3 lifts and golf type buggies to get about on as it’s very steep in places. We used the gym a lot and it’s very well equipped, clean and air conditioned. The beach is great with a restaurant/cafe and bar. The staff there (especially Marianna and Chris) are brilliant. We also hired one of the boats a couple of times to sail around the bay. Also walked into Elounda which takes about 20/25 minutes at a stroll. Take care in places though as there aren’t any paths. All in all we’re definitely going back and probably in October again. Brilliant!
The Island Concept Luxury Boutique Hotel Heated Pool

we are more than thrilled with the location, the service and the concept of the hotel. Everything here is very well organized down to the smallest detail, it is a boutique hotel with about 15 rooms, but each of them has a sea view, our room even has a large terrace about 10 m long with two loungers, there are also rooms with a whirlpool and the rooms are named after the islands of the Cyclades store. in general the whole hotel is very well organized and the food is also very good. the whole team of the hotel is always very committed to create an extraordinary experience for the guest. We would especially like to thank Maria from the reception, she made this stay a little paradise. The hotel also has a private beach which is very nice, you can go into the sea for more than 100 m and you are still standing with your feet on the bottom of the fine sand. The hotel's pool is also very nice. All in all, we can only warmly recommend the hotel and would like to thank Maria and the whole team
Minos Palace Hotel & Suites - Adults Only

Minos Palace Hotel is the ideal place to book for your stay at Agios Nikolaos. Very privileged location offering unobstructed sea view while the green surroundings of the hotel with hundreds of flowers and trees make the whole scenery being the perfect hermitage. From the time of the check in, we felt like being home as the ladies at the front desk were so helpful giving us excellent recommendations for dining, swimming and activities and also so well escorting us to our spacious room. They offered us a free upgrade and the room was very well designed with many amenities and comfortable mattress. The balcony had an amazing sea view and it was a silent place for enjoying our holidays. I would also like to make a special mention to Ms. Maria at the reception who helped us a lot and was so kind for even allowing us to have a late check out - not to mention that we forgot upon check out a backpack which she promptly arranged to deliver it to me to another destination at no cost. This is so rare to happen to receive such a service at such high standards and I feel grateful of her as well as excited about their hospitality spirit and their treat to their guests! The breakfast staff were also very polite and warm. The breakfast was rich and delicious with a wide variety of Greek products making it unique. I would definitely love to come back and I highly suggest it to potential travellers.
Blue Palace Elounda

This was our sixth visit to the Blue Palace as we have loved all our previous stays at the hotel. We paid a premium to stay here as we wanted a holiday somewhere special to mark some important life events and recover from the loss of some very special people in our lives. Very little had changed, which was reassuring. The standards of service are still very high. Everyone who works at the hotel is professional yet still warm and friendly. The standard of cleanliness at the hotel is very high and housekeeping is fantastic. Our Superior Bungalow room, whilst in a slightly different location to the ones we had occupied previously, was exactly the same with a fabulous view of Spinalonga. We did notice that some parts of the hotel are starting to show their age. Nothing too obvious, just little things like the odd wobbly cobble and wonky fixtures and fittings. My husband was quite taken aback by the men's toilets in the ****nli. He reported toilet cubicles not locking and one of the door handles fell off. These things aside, we still enjoyed the hotel facilities just as much as we had in our previous visits. The spa is fabulous and I had one of the best facials ever. The atmosphere in the ****nli picked up when the DJ was in residence. The most disappointing aspect of our visit this time was the food. If we had only eaten breakfast and not visited any of the hotel's restaurants we would most likely have given the hotel a 5 star rating. Breakfast is fantastic. The choice of food is immense. They have gone all out to try to cater to as many tastes and dietary requirements as possible. We were also pleased to learn that breakfast service had been extended to 11am, so we could enjoy a lie in and a lazy brunch. Unfortunately, our experience of two of the hotel's restaurants did not impress. I was very ill after a meal at Asia Deep Blue. We dined at this restaurant multiple times when we first stayed at the hotel in 2010. Back then the food was amazing and one of our favourites was the Tempura Prawns. On our return visits to the hotel this beautiful restaurant seemed to have fallen out of favour with hotel guests and was deserted, so it was lovely to see it full of life again, so much so we could only get an 8.30pm booking. We felt very rushed and we were instructed to choose from the menu on the app. Personally we hate this as it cheapens the whole dining experience. The Tempura Prawns were not the same standard as we remembered. They looked very uniform in appearance and the batter was not light and crispy. We suspected they'd been bought in. Our Teriyaki Salmon was a generous portion size and tasted OK. The wine wasn't our favourite and it was very strong. We were in and out of the restaurant within 45 minutes! Unfortunately something did not agree with me and I was unwell during the night whilst my husband also felt a bit 'off'. We also had an extremely disappointing experience at Anthos which I have reviewed separately. If ever we were to return t
