Crowne Plaza Adelaide, an IHG Hotel

We stayed in this hotel for a week during July and overall had a good experience. We found the hotel was very well located for our needs, notably a hire car outlet across the road, the travelers clinic (for PCR testing) 2 minutes down the road and many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The room we were ultimately stayed was on the 20th floor which provided a great view of the foothills of the city. The room was smallish, but was clean, modern and well appointed with all the features one would expect in a hotel of this price range. We had a couple of issues with check-in because we had inadvertently booked a ”king accessible” room which is for persons of limited mobility, which we did not need. We were offered a change if we paid an extra AUD 20 per night which we refused and so then we were given a free ”upgrade” (as it was explained to us) to a room on a lower floor which turned out to have a door adjoining it to the room next door. We could hear everything that was going on in that room and so after 5 minutes we were back at reception asking for a quiet room. Dealing with a different check-in person we were given a nice quiet room on the 20th floor. My main advice from this experience is do not accept a room with an adjoining door, the sound proofing is terrible. Aside from this initial check in issue our stay was hassle free and very enjoyable. We would certainly consider staying here again when next we visit Adelaide.

We stayed here for a two night break, lured in by the stylized photographs. The hotel itself was built in 1926, and I think the rooms were last refurbished around 1976 the furniture is old and dated. The med was comfortable, but we found some serious stains on the bedding. The location is excellent for trams and access to Rundle St Mall, however being so close to Hi key Street means that there are council street sweeper trucks passing around 430am ever morning. Also, the lane way that has access to the hotel had a few undesirable characters camping in the doorway of the hotel, and having a little drink and argument to themselves quite late. The cold water tap in the bathroom didn’t work. We alerted the hotel reception who told us there was someone booked to come and fix it whilst we were out. When we returned it had not been fixed. We told the receptionist that it hasn’t been fixed so if the plumber had billed them, then he hadn’t done his job. Finally, the hotel policy has a clause for “night workers” who are to “escort their guests out of the building and ensure the security fort is closed” I wasn’t quite sure what that meant at first, but it didn’t take long for the penny to drop. Several times during the night there was a rhythmic banging of the headboard in the adjacent room ….. business must have been good! Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. We lamented over the additional $20 a night extra we could have spent to have a much nicer hotel, just an extra block away from being smack bang in the middle of the city.

The location is very good, the service is excellent and everything is very good. The name is very similar to another hotel nearby. Booking a travel product should repeatedly emphasize the name of the hotel, otherwise it will be afraid to go to the wrong place.

Great and convenient location. Close to 7 x 24 convenience store for daily stuff and simple meal. Also close to the ******************. Someone may like it. Some beggars and drunk people could be found near the hotel. Won't harm you. Just be careful.

I was looking for a touch of special to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. So I booked a room with a river view because I thought that would be nice to wake up to. Well, when we arrived, we had been upgraded to a 'suite'! We were blown away at this room, wall to ceiling views, dining room, bath, balcony. 'Pretty woman' eat your heart out. We didn't dine there as it was a Sunday night and not all of them were open but the facilities looked good. Staff were very professional and friendly at check in and check out. Very little surprises me these days. but EOS did. Thank you very much for exceeding our expectations and giving us an experience we will cherish forever.

The hotel has a long history. The decoration in the public areas and rooms is very artistic, with many paintings. The elevator is still an ancient sliding door style. This stay was a very good experience, highly recommended!
